Userhub is a Dhaka-based research and education institute advancing Applied UX Research, Human-Centered Design (HCD), and inclusive digital systems. Founded in 2014, Userhub integrates practice, education, and open publishing through three pillars: the UX Lab, the Institute of Human-Centered Design, and the peer-reviewed Userhub Journal (ISSN 3080-9797). Congratulations to Johirul Islam Nishat, William Kallyan D Cruze, Md Pabel Mahmud Sagar, Saiful Islam, and Mohammad Iftikhar Shayem of 𝗗𝗨𝗫𝗗 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟰𝟰 on completing Userhub’s 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻.

As part of their diploma research, they explored how people decide whether an AI agent has provided enough information and control before approving an action, an increasingly important question in 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜.

Their work reflects the 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 of DUXD, going beyond the interface to investigate how people understand, evaluate, and make decisions around complex digital systems.

A meaningful milestone for the team and a strong example of applied UX research in an emerging area of technology.

Userhub's 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 is a six-month advanced program for evaluating digital products and services, investigating user and system-level challenges, and using evidence to guide improvement.

It combines UX evaluation with advanced human-centered research, helping participants move from identifying problems in digital experiences to understanding their wider context and shaping informed responses.

Over two days, Userhub delivered a Human-Centered Product Thinking workshop for professionals from bKash Limited’s Product & Technology teams, focused on making more deliberate product decisions by questioning assumptions about users.

One idea was central throughout: what we believe about users is not necessarily what we know about users.

Participants examined assumptions behind product signals, considered how the same behaviour can mean different things in different situations, framed problems before moving toward solutions, explored alternative directions, and brought different professional perspectives into the discussion.

Human-centered thinking can make assumptions visible, improve reasoning, and identify what still needs to be learned. But when direct evidence is missing, interpretations remain working hypotheses. Understanding what users actually experience, need, understand, value, or do still requires user research.

Teen mobile media use is not only about screen time.

A new Userhub news story summarizes our recent SAGE-published study in Mobile Media & Communication. The study examines how adolescents’ mobile media routines in Bangladesh are shaped by household rules, shared or personal phone access, study pressure, supervision, time windows, and everyday routines.

The article helps explain why the same mobile platforms can lead to different patterns of use in different household and access conditions.

Two learners from Batch 136 of Userhub’s Diploma in User Experience Design program have co-authored a research article now published online in SAGE’s peer-reviewed journal Mobile Media & Communication.

Congratulations to Md. Asraful Alam Prottoy and Md. Nadim Mahmud Nayem.

The article, “Mobile Media Use as Governed Routine: A Qualitative Study of Adolescents’ Everyday Decision Environments,” was authored by Wahid bin Ahsan, Md. Asraful Alam Prottoy, and Md. Nadim Mahmud Nayem.

For Userhub, this is a meaningful example of what structured, research-informed UX education can make possible: learning that goes beyond tools, screens, and portfolios into observation, evidence-based thinking, and real human context.
