A remarkable place deserves a precise digital foundation.

RealVisuals was proud to carry out the site measurement of the historic Bedford House in Zillebeke, Belgium.

Zillebeke was directly behind the Western Front, making it a useful site for divisional headquarters and field ambulance stations. Château Rosendal, a large house with a moat and extensive gardens was put to this use. The British forces in the area named the château “Bedford House” or “Woodcote House”, with the former becoming the official name used for the post-war cemetery.

Whilst the area remained in Allied hands through the war, the château was razed being hit by German shells.

The work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is truly remarkable. Maintaining more than a thousand cemeteries and memorial sites around the world, they ensure that the memory of those who lost their lives is preserved for generations to come.

We are honoured to contribute, in our own small way, to this important work.
Thank you to the CWGC for the dedication and care you put into preserving these places of remembrance.

Architecture worth looking up for.

The Rectorate Building in Etterbeek, designed by Renaat Braem, is a beautiful example of Belgian modernist architecture.

Bold shapes, strong lines and sculptural details come together in a building that still feels remarkably contemporary.

A privilege to discover this piece of architectural heritage.

Thank you Vincent Hai for the opportunity.

Can you feel history? Braille and audio are great, but some things need to be touched to be understood.

Together with Materialise, we created for Herita a highly detailed 3D print of the Castle of Laarne—specifically designed for blind and visually impaired visitors.

What makes it unique?

Perfect Imperfections: Every real-world contour is replicated.

Time Traveling via Touch: Three major architectural eras are finished in high-contrast textures (like dots and circles), chosen by blind experts. Visitors can literally feel how the castle grew over the centuries!

No glass domes here. This durable model is made to be actively touched and explored.

It was THAT hot... ☀️

During a recent scan, we spotted a statue standing right next to a ventilation unit. Honestly, it looked like it needed the cooling just as much as we did.

Luckily, the heat didn’t stop us from capturing another accurate 3D scan.

Some projects bring great data. Others bring great photos too.

Behind every magical show is a lot of technical preparation.

For Sleeping Beauty at the Studio 100 Theatre in De Panne, RealVisuals created a detailed 3D model of the existing theatre infrastructure, helping the production team prepare and coordinate the technical setup of the musical.

From reality to digital, from scan to show.

Where do our scanners unpack their suitcases? Walking through the corridors of history The ‘Blauwe Zusters’ monastery in Veurne isn’t just beautiful; it carries a powerful past. During World War I, this serene place was transformed into a hospital, offering shelter, care, and hope to those wounded near the frontlines.

Standing here today, you can really feel the weight of the stories hidden within these walls. A truly moving piece of Belgian heritage.

Bringing Brussels’ history into the digital age!

Our team at RealVisuals recently took on the challenge of digitally capturing every single detail of the iconic Ravenstein Gallery in Brussels! RealVisuals is proud to have completed the full 3D surveying and scanning of this post-war heritage gem.

With our advanced 3D laser scanners, we mapped out the complex geometry of the building to deliver highly accurate 3D data. This precise digital foundation is now being used by the restoration architects at Erfgoed & Visie to guide their massive renovation project.

No matter how complex the architecture, we enjoy the puzzle. We capture the existing conditions so architects can focus on what they do best: designing the future! ️

Tech meets history in Hasselt!

A while ago the Virga Jesse Basilica’s lantern tower was being taken down for restoration, here is an amazing behind-the-scenes detail you might not know!

Before the 10-meter-tall spire was lifted off the roof with heavy cranes, the experts at RealVisuals stepped in to secure its digital legacy. We completely scanned the historic tower and created an ultra-precise 3D model in Archicad!

Thanks to this digital twin, the restoration team has a perfect blueprint of the 1740 structure. Even though the physical tower is temporarily down to fix severe wood rot, its exact geometry is safely stored digitally to guide the builders.

History is precious, but modern tech like 3D scanning makes saving it a whole lot easier!

Do you love seeing modern technology being used to save ancient buildings? Let us know!
