IF THESE WALLS by Susan White

In the 1940s, during a post-war housing crisis, an extraordinary feat took place in Moncton. A local construction company, at the direction of Wartime Housing Limited, raised two hundred homes in record time to give homes to the soldiers returning from war and to other locals in need.

This fictionalized account of historical events follows the families who built and moved into those homes, and through their stories shows how stable housing lays a foundation for generational safety and health in families and in broader communities a surprisingly relevant and moving message today.

Cherished New Brunswick author Susan White has written If These Walls as a love letter to Moncton, and to the incredible post-war spirit that built a neighbourhood from nothing. Susan White Author page

Get Repost App • Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail Belleville, Ontario area folks, I’m going to be back in town again this weekend to do the Ontario launch of Flying High on PEI! Woohoo!

I know all you Ontario people LOVE Prince Edward Island. I chatted with lots of you at the Cavendish Literary Festival last month and you’ll be able to appreciate the Island charm and hospitality that unfolded for two lucky flyers in 1930 before they tackled flying the Atlantic Ocean.

Come join in some storytime fun, activities, chats, signed books and more this Saturday!

Get Repost App • BOOKMARK PEI Mark your calendars! We are hosting a double book launch for two novelists on Friday, October 16th at 7 pm in the Beaconsfield Carriage House. Join us for a wonderful evening featuring Nancy Taber, author of Cove of Witches and Katie Mac, author of Dunk River Murders. This is a free event, and all are welcome. It’s going to be a great evening – you should come!

In Cove of Witches, Nancy has created a fast-paced and thrilling adventure full of folklore, history…and witches set on PEI. If Simone, a clairvoyant police cadet, doesn’t solve the mystery of her family’s relationship with the phantom ship, the Doirons past and present will be in peril. Her ancestors need her but is she powerful enough to save them? And all the while the phantom ship waits, blazing in a hidden cove, calling through the generations. Simone must protect her family’s legacy or be forever haunted by the phantom ship.

From the author of Ken’s Corner, comes a murder mystery set on the Island. Katie’s new novel Dunk River Murders follows Maggie, a woman who is burnt out in her old political job and is running away from her problems by way of fly fishing, until dead bodies keep inconveniently popping up in her river. With a demoralized cop on the case, a traumatized potential survivor, and a web of mob deals to untangle, the only way to solve the murder might be to ask her unsavoury former boss for help.
