Are you evaluating your current training approach or looking to modernize it? This is a useful place to start.

Training has evolved significantly over time, and we wanted to help organizations better understand both the strengths and limitations of on-the-job training as workforce development needs continue to change.

How do you balance productivity with learning?
How do you reduce risk while giving trainees meaningful hands-on experience?
How do you standardize training outcomes across different instructors and jobsites?

In this article, we explore the pros, cons, and best practices of on-the-job training, as well as how simulation technology can help strengthen traditional training programs.

Tell a student they can try a simulator and they'll be curious.
Tell them someone else got a better score and suddenly they're FULLY determined.

That's exactly what we've been seeing all week at SkillsUSA.

It's one of the things we love most about simulation-based training. It turns learning into an experience people genuinely want to engage with.

And when students are engaged, they're more likely to build confidence, develop skills, and discover a passion for the trades.

Today's the final day of the SkillsUSA exhibits. Don't miss your chance to stop by Booth #343, take on the challenge, and see if you can beat the score to beat!

Thank you to everyone who already stopped by and to the SkillsUSA organizers, it has truly been a great time.

We’re grateful to be featured in Port Strategy's article on how simulation training is helping reshape workforce development across the port industry.

From fuel-saving and carbon-reducing benefits to improved operational efficiency, it's exciting to see the growing momentum behind safer, more scalable operator training solutions across terminals worldwide.

A great read on where port training is headed👇

Simulation based training is overtaking on-the-job learning in ports due to cost savings and operational efficiency benefits.

Training bucket truck operators is challenging. It relies on costly equipment and exposes trainees to real operational risk.

This is an area where traditional on-the-job learning can strongly benefit from additional support through progressive, standardized training solutions. That’s why we’re excited to have collaborated with Altec to build the Intellia Bucket Truck Simulation Curriculum.

Featuring authentic ISO-Grip™ controls, the curriculum helps trainees prepare for real-world utility tasks without taking equipment out of service. From machine setup and outrigger positioning to precise boom control and jib-supported lifting tasks, trainees can safely practice essential workflows in a controlled environment before stepping onto an active worksite.

See how the system comes together in this short video.

Correctional institutions are increasingly exploring new ways to support successful reentry, and simulation-based training is proving to be part of the solution.

In our recent webinar, “How Simulation Training Can Help Inmates Build Tangible Skills for Reentry,” CM Labs experts Alan Limoges and Joe Najjar discussed five key reasons why simulation training fits naturally into correctional workforce development programs:
1️⃣ It offers a safe and controlled training environment.
2️⃣ It provides hands-on experience with controls that mirror real equipment.
3️⃣ It develops tangible, job-ready skills that support employment in a high-demand sector after release.
4️⃣ It enables flexible training across multiple equipment types using a single simulator.
5️⃣ It exposes trainees to high-risk scenarios, including machine faults and severe weather conditions within a virtual environment.

As construction labor shortages continue across North America, simulation-based training can help create pathways toward meaningful employment while supporting lower recidivism and stronger reintegration outcomes.
