Today, Ecopia AI announces the delivery of a comprehensive statewide address and building footprint database to the State of Mississippi.

This dataset includes:
โœ… 1.9M+ high-precision building footprints
โœ… 2.5M+ geocoded address points
โœ… 97% address accuracy (vs. the industry average of 58%)

What makes this different? Rather than assigning address locations to street segments or parcel centroids, our building-based geocoding approach links addresses directly to their physical structures using AI-driven mapping from high-resolution imagery.

The result is a statewide source of truth that every Mississippi state and local agency can access for:
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Voting and electoral operations
๐Ÿšจ Emergency preparedness and 911 dispatch
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Infrastructure planning and zoning
๐ŸŒช๏ธ Disaster recovery

This is what GeoAI can do for government at scale.

Four of the most destructive wildfires in California history have occurred since 2017. The scale of the threat is growing, and so is the demand for geospatial data that can actually keep up.

We're proud to share our newest case study featuring our work with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the agency responsible for wildfire readiness across more than 32 million acres of California.

The challenge? Keeping mapping data accurate and current across a landscape that never stops changing. The solution? AI-powered feature extraction at statewide scale.

Working with CAL FIRE, Ecopia provided:
๐ŸŒณ 16 layers of land cover (vegetation, impervious surfaces, and more)
๐Ÿ  9+ million height-attributed building footprints with fire factor attribution
๐Ÿ“ Geocoded address points and parcel boundaries

This data powers CAL FIRE's fire hazard severity zone mapping, defensible space inspections, and post-fire damage assessments.

Our latest Building-Based Geocoding update just dropped, including a brand new attribute: delivery point validation (DPV).

Maintained by the USPS, DPV confirms whether a given address is a real, deliverable location. When our geocoded address points pass DPV at high rates, it independently validates what we've built into our methodology from the start: address locations derived directly from building footprints extracted from high-resolution imagery by our GeoAI map engine.

This approach anchors address points to actual structures on the ground. DPV gives data teams one more independent signal that the location we're providing for an address is the right one.

As flooding becomes one of the defining infrastructure challenges of our time, the need for high-resolution, accurate geospatial data has never been more urgent.

Stop by our booth and be sure to join us for our presentation, where we'll be showcasing:

โœ… How Ecopia's scalable 6-inch nationwide land cover data was used to build an integrated flood model (IFM) for a major urban area by incorporating impervious surfaces, vegetation, and water bodies to improve water infrastructure planning and climate resilience.

โœ… How Texas leveraged Ecopia's statewide 3D road network to refine flood inundation maps - delivering more accurate predictions for emergency response and infrastructure decision-making.

Weโ€™re excited to announce that Ecopia has provided the State of Connecticut with high-precision land cover and transportation mapping data ๐ŸŒ

Extracted from aerial imagery across all 5,543 square miles of Connecticut, this dataset delivers 28 vector layers representing both the natural and built environments, including:

๐ŸŒŠ Impervious surfaces for stormwater management & flood modeling
๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Building footprints for emergency response & property analytics
๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Width-attributed sidewalks, bike lanes, & crosswalks for active transportation planning
๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Road lanes & intersections for traffic planning workflows

Traditional mapping methods often require extensive manual digitization that can take months - or even years - to complete at statewide scales. Ecopiaโ€™s AI-based mapping systems streamline this process, creating standardized, high-accuracy datasets in a fraction of the time while helping agencies keep pace with real-world change.

With more than a decade of experience supporting government agencies at scale, Ecopia is proud to empower public sector organizations with a reliable digital representation of the physical world.

High-quality geospatial data isnโ€™t just nice to have. Itโ€™s the foundation for accurate decisions.

When your data truly reflects the real world, teams can:
โœ”๏ธ Create reliable map visualizations
โœ”๏ธ Run accurate models
โœ”๏ธ Make confident, data-driven decisions

On the other hand, poor data quality quickly leads to:
โŒ Inaccurate maps
โŒ Faulty modeling outputs
โŒ Costly delays and rework
โŒ Compliance risks

So how do you actually measure and improve geospatial data quality?

Our latest blog breaks down the 4 Cs of geospatial data quality, along with key metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score - giving you a practical framework to evaluate and trust your data.

From megacities to rural towns, Indiaโ€™s landscape is transforming dynamically to meet the needs of its growing population. However, high-quality geospatial data is often concentrated in the world's major cities, leaving vast regions as data deserts with limited and outdated coverage.

These gaps are driven by high production costs, resource constraints, and manual mapping workflows that simply donโ€™t scale.

Thanks to Ecopia and Vantor's AI-driven partnership, what once took years of manual digitization can now be delivered in record times, creating a consistent spatial foundation that scales anywhere on Earth. ๐ŸŒ

In just 3 months, Ecopia and Vantor produced over 300 million building and road features across 3 million square kilometers of India, roughly 3% of the Earthโ€™s habitable landmass - saving years of manual mapping efforts and providing critical insight that keeps pace with a rapidly evolving region.
