A new video about Tsartlip First Nation’s marine monitoring program shows how the community’s guardians use the Trailmark app in their traditional waters. The video produced by the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers (Cando) focuses on the Tsartlip stewardship team’s work to track and mitigate the impacts from vessels in the Saanich Inlet using Trailmark. The Salish Sea Interactive Map (SSIM) at dfossi.com is a website with tools for easily finding data and collaborating on marine stewardship throughout the Salish Sea region. It was co-developed by 33 First Nations, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), and Trailmark Systems.

Funding for the Salish Sea Initiative ended in 2025 and the SSIM was originally funded to operate until last month. Trailmark has decided at our own cost to keep the SSIM running through March 2027 because of its important public value.
