Many respondents believe the industry has made more progress on carbon reduction than in previous years. At the same time, the majority said far more still needs to be done.

The question is no longer whether sustainability matters. The question is how quickly the industry can turn ambition into measurable results.

In a new interview with News our 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗣, Immelman , shares her perspective on how greater representation and digitalization are opening new opportunities for women across the construction industry.

From visibility and leadership to technology and new career pathways, Kim explores what it takes to create an industry where more women can see a future for themselves, and have the opportunity to build it.

The construction industry increasingly recognizes the importance of reducing embodied carbon.

Yet nearly half of respondents who aren't measuring it said they simply don't know how. Lack of knowledge around measurement methods, standards, and data remains one of the biggest obstacles to action.

We're conducting our 2026 RIB Sustainability Survey to understand where the industry stands today and what support professionals need moving forward.

What is the biggest reason companies aren't measuring embodied carbon?

According to our 2025 survey, the most common answer wasn't technology, cost, or regulations.

It was simple:
"It's not a priority for most of our clients." Nearly two-thirds of respondents who aren't tracking embodied carbon cited a lack of client demand as a key barrier.

Has that changed in your market?

Take part in the 2026 RIB Sustainability Survey and help us understand what is driving sustainable construction today.

Last year, our sustainability survey revealed a clear gap between awareness and action.

While sustainability is firmly on the industry's agenda, 69% of respondents said they are not currently tracking embodied carbon on their projects.

As client expectations, regulations, and reporting requirements continue to evolve, we're running the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗥𝗜𝗕 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 to understand how the industry is progressing.
