This September Unblur was exhibiting at the The Emergency Services Show Tech Show - the UK’s largest event for emergency services and a new event dedicated specifically to tech companies. The event allowed our team to demonstrate the capacity of IRIS Core and Tactics - our incident command software to transcend traditional boundaries and appeal to a diverse range of sectors.

The ESS served as a platform for the company to engage with key stakeholders and witness a surge in interest from various verticals.

🚨 Police agencies, recognizing the critical role of streamlined communication and data sharing in emergency response, expressed keen interest in the software's capabilities. Fire and rescue services personnel were equally captivated by its potential to optimize resource allocation and incident management.

💡 Government representatives hailed the software's situational awareness tools as invaluable assets for disaster preparedness and crisis management. Transport authorities saw it as a potent tool for traffic incident management and public safety enhancement.

We are excited to announce an innovative partnership with Tait Communications that redefines incident command situational awareness, solving a longstanding issue with fireground radio communications.

Until now, discussions and decisions made at incidents with handheld radios have not been available outside the fireground. Also, voice messages transmitted could only be heard once without ability to replay if not heard clearly, and it hasn’t been possible to keep a log of radio traffic.

Unblur and Tait Communications have developed a unique new solution that solves this problem, creating a platform that automatically saves all radio traffic into the system decision log during the incident. This transforms situational awareness, risk assessment, decision making and post incident learning by:

🔷 Allowing recipients to go back and replay messages if they were unsure of content.

🔷 Allowing access to radio communications for officers who are remote from the operational environment.

The modern day fireground is rich with data and information which it can be a challenge for incident commanders to assimilate to make the best decisions. Of course, responders want as much information as possible to have full awareness of the situation around them. They have to make decisions in a dynamic environment under pressure of time and often using intuition developed with previous experience.

At the end of July West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) completed one of its final end-user validation exercises of Unblur's incident command software as a part of a six-month proof of concept.

This multi-pump exercise was held at Canley Fire Station and aimed to expose firefighters and incident commanders to IRIS Core and Tactics and enhanced situational awareness, information sharing and its digital real-time command support capabilities. The exercise scenario was set around a complex incident involving multiple vehicles and casualties, including a lorry transporting chemicals and a damaged high-voltage power line.

The exercise was successfully completed and enabled end users to use IRIS tactics to gather and share initial risk critical hazards and casualty location and status in real time.

As the exercise escalated, IRIS Core was used to deliver command support and provide onsite and remote briefing, video streaming and GPS tracking of assets and personnel.

This event was one of the final proof of concept validation exercises alongside IRIS Core and Tactics being deployed operationally within the Coventry Command area.

After successfully integrating, deploying and supporting the WMFS ICT team in implementing the solution within WMFS, it is hoped IRIS Core will be rolled out service-wide to WMFS’s 38 fire stations and 1,164 firefighters in September 2023.
