How much does it cost to work with me?

I work with people who already have a website, e.g. fixing problems, changes, etc.

I.e. I don't build new websites!

For example, clients may have built their website themselves, and hire me for the more technical parts. They have a website they haven't done much with for a while. Or their original web developer has left and things need changing/fixing.

Here's some examples of how I can help...

I'll check through your website and provide feedback on SEO, ideas for improvements, potential problems, etc.
Absolutely no obligations to hire me for any further work (and you can use the feedback I send you yourself, or with another web developer).

ONE-OFF FIXES - starting at £75
If something isn't working on your website as expected, I can fix it for you!

INSTALLING LATEST UPDATES - £75
I did quite a lot of this last week - ensuring PHP was up-to-date on hosting, and (as a precaution) ensuring all the latest WordPress updates are installed.

ONGOING SUPPORT SUBSCRIPTION - starting at £75 per month
I have a range of ongoing support packages, starting to more basic support, detailed help, and even packages if you look after your clients websites and need specialist support.
Peace of mind your website is running smoothly, and on hand when there are problems need fixing.

SEO SETUP - £150

This morning I've been checking over web hosting for a few clients.

Making sure PHP is up-to-date following this week's PHP security issues.

More for peace of mind (and while it's an issue on the hosting side of things and NOT an issue with WordPress, two clients have also asked me to make sure all the latest updates etc. are installed).

Overwhelmed by all the changes and things to fix on your website?

I often suggest to clients that work on their website be split into smaller parts, rather than trying to do everything in one go.

This makes it easier to focus on each improvement to your website. Plus, its easier to manage, help with budgeting, ideal if you haven't done much with your website for a while, and allows for better testing of any changes.

It can also help identify where and who you'll need help from. For example, some changes you may handle yourself, while other parts may require a designer, or a developer (e.g. me!).

DIY website builders!

Website builders can be a great option if you want a simple website that you can set up yourself, or you don't want to hire a web designer.

There's many great options available - including Google Sites, Wix, or even a hosting providers own website tools.

Or you may be confident building your own WordPress website.

Even if you are doing it yourself, I'm still happy to support you!

A lot of my work is for people who created and set up their website themselves, and need to hire me for an hour or so for more specialist help.

For example...
- Setting up the domain name with the new website.
- Fixing any last minute bits and pieces.
- Testing the website and providing feedback.

This week I've carried out a for more website audits for clients.

They are only £35 - I'll check through things like SEO, layout, potential problems, things that may be missing, suggested improvements, etc.

Let's talk about grated cheese!

I prefer to buy grated cheese, because I don't like the hassle of grating cheese myself, plus slightly less washing up.

Just because you can do something yourself, doesn't mean you have to.

Whether thats grating cheese, chopping vegetables, using cake mix (instead of buying individual ingredients)... and the same applies to websites!

For example, you may not have time, don't like doing the task, or its something you can't do yourself.

In the long run, getting someone to help you may cost around the same, or even save you time and money.

Plus you are not spending hours messing around with settings or code, trying to get something to work!

With websites, you can try to do something yourself, especially the more tricker or technical parts, or hire someone to help (e.g. me!) and do the work for you.

(A lot of work is also from clients who have built their own websites, or now manage/update their own websites, and then get me to do the more technical parts.)

Hopefully this was a grate post, and I'll avoid any cheesey puns.

When was the last time you looked at your web hosting settings, particularly subscriptions and packages?

These are often set to auto renew, and I often find people are paying for extra packages as part of their hosting that they don't need (and don't realise they are paying for).

For example...
- Hosting companies sometimes sneak in "free" trials that autorenew.
- Stuff is sometimes included as part of the main hosting package, and doesn't need to be purchased seperately.
- Initial free extras that are now charged for.
- You may be using third party services (e.g. your own e-mail provider), this is the one I often spot!
- Packages and extras from old versions of websites from years ago, that are no longer required.

Check your hosting and domain settings, to make sure you are not paying for extra packages that you don't actually need.

Especially at items that are not your hosting package or domain name. Sometimes the additional packages you are paying for are required, other times they are not.

You may be spending money on things you don't actually need.
