The first 10 seconds after someone answers the phone can decide the entire conversation.

At that point, the prospect is not thinking about your offer yet. They are deciding whether they even want to keep listening.

If your opening sounds rushed, scripted, or too salesy, people switch off quickly. Not because they are rude, but because they hear similar calls every day, and their time is limited.
