1980's: Girl Friday Required

Thankfully, recruitment has changed a lot since the 1980s.

Back then, job adverts regularly referenced age, gender, appearance, marital status and even family plans. Today, hiring should be focused on skills, experience and potential, giving everyone a fair opportunity to succeed.

At Select Recruitment, we're proud to support fair and inclusive hiring practices that help employers attract the best talent, regardless of background.

That said, we're still surprised by the occasional job advert that makes us raise an eyebrow! While we've come a long way, there are still moments that remind us why modern recruitment standards matter.

Recruitment isn't always about making placements. Often it's about being there when people need advice, support, reassurance or simply someone to talk things through with.
