A parent of a child with Tourette syndrome began using AV1 after a period away from school.

With the support of AV1, the student is now attending lessons for four GCSE subjects and has reconnected with their school community.

Okinawa is bringing people together through small groups of lifelong friends! On the Japanese island of Okinawa, there is an extraordinarily high number of centenarians. One of the reasons is "moai" - groups of lifelong friends. Traditionally, groups of five children are brought together, who promise to support each other for life. The "Moai" meet several times a week throughout a lifetime.

Elders in Okinawa, Japan, one of the original “Blue Zones” longevity hotspots, live extraordinarily better and longer lives than almost anyone else in the world.

Gaming has become an important social arena for many, where people can meet to compete and cooperate on equal terms. SpecialEffect is a charity that makes this arena accessible to everyone, through customising gaming equipment for people with severe physical disabilities. This week, through an online donation battle, they were given $1M to continue their work making gaming available for all! 🥳

Seren is using her AV1, "David", to keep in touch with friends and family now that school's closed. She is in long-term medical isolation due to cancer treatment, and will most likely not be able to return to school until May 2021. Thanks to SpecialEffect's BubbleBuster project, she gets to stay connected. Read her story:

Feeling stressed and anxious? We do. Isolation does that. Some advice: Call each other at meal time. Eating with someone increases your appetite. Have a chat through the window or from your balcony. Help those who cannot leave their house, buy them medicine and groceries, help with gardening or walk their dog. Community, neighbours and compassion is more important now than ever. We are all 💕

Most of us are now self-isolating and we get our daily contact through social media and technology. It's important to remember those among us who are not on any digital channel, and pick up the phone.
