However, it fails when treated as final.
As a result, the cost shifts to development and engineers spend more time fixing problems.

AI works best when it helps you think things through.
If you let AI do all the thinking, productivity can drop.

All of you got it right 👈 The correct answer is Development.

What looked like a “head start” becomes rework.

This is the core misunderstanding around AI in design:
👉 It doesn’t reduce the need for thinking; it just moves where that thinking happens.

In discovery, AI lowers costs by speeding up exploration. In development, it drives up costs when structural issues appear too late.

The takeaway is simple: AI-generated UIs are great starting points, but they are not production-ready solutions.

The real ROI comes from faster exploration, not skipping the design process.

In the previous parts of this series, we looked at what happens when you ask an AI tool to generate an application interface.

The results did not meet expectations.

The generated screens lacked hierarchy, structure, and product thinking. Rather than forming a coherent interface, they appeared as loosely assembled components. This outcome confirms what many designers already believe: AI cannot design a good screen; it can only assemble visual elements.
