Workshop Announcement: Building a Local RAG for Robot Framework at hashtag #2026
We are pleased to announce that Krzysztof Żminkowski (NiceProject) and Agnieszka Ż. will be co-leading a technical workshop at Robocon 2026. This session focuses on the practical application of local AI within the Robot Framework ecosystem.
The session, "Building a local RAG for Robot Framework, based on the example of API testing," provides a practical approach to automating test creation using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
Technical Objectives:
✅ Knowledge Base Construction: Converting OpenAPI/Swagger
✅ documentation into vector embeddings for a searchable database.
✅Prompt Engineering: Designing instructions to generate syntactically correct Robot Framework code and Keywords.
✅Test Ex*****on & Validation: Running AI-generated tests against real APIs and debugging via Robot Framework logs.
✅Data Generation: Using local LLMs to create JSON payloads for positive, negative, and edge-case testing.
Workshop Requirements:
- Hardware: 16 GB RAM, 15 GB SSD space.
- Software: Python 3.9+, Robot Framework 7.2+, VSCode (with RobotCode extension), and Ollama (Llama 3 8B).
This intermediate-level workshop is intended for QA engineers and developers who want to implement local AI solutions in their testing pipelines.
