Data centre capacity is tightening across Europe! According to the latest CBRE Europe Data Centres Q2 2026 report, colocation demand continues to outpace supply. This is primarily driven by a lack of available power, which causes significant delays in data center construction.

An important aspect highlighted in the report is that the European vacancy rate (non including FLAP-D) has more than halved over the past decade, as demand for colocation capacity consistently exceeds the supply delivered in a given quarter. With the vacancy rate expected to reach 19% by the end of 2026 securing available space is becoming increasingly competitive across the continent.

⚡ Săptămâna trecută, ambele reactoare de la Cernavodă au fost oprite din cauza secetei. Sistemul energetic național a pierdut aproape 20% din capacitatea de generare. Situație similară și la Paks, Ungaria.

Nu e un incident izolat, ci confirmarea unui risc structural: majoritatea organizațiilor depind aproape exclusiv de rețea, fără o alternativă reală în caz de indisponibilitate temporară. Un data center profesional funcționează diferit, cu o arhitectură energetică redundantă, gândită special pentru astfel de scenarii neprevăzute.
