US beef imports by country, Q1 2026: imported beef just hit 17.34% of the total US supply, an all-time high

TradeInt's verified Q1 2026 US import data (HS Chapter 02) shows the top beef suppliers to the United States and the structural reasons behind record import volumes.

Top 5 sources:
1. Australia: US$935M (19.43%), the anchor lean trimming supplier, up 12% YoY
2. New Zealand: US$680M (14.13%), grass-fed beef and premium lamb

India edible oil imports by country, Q1 2026: US$4.72 billion across palm, soy, and sunflower from 10 origins

TradeInt's verified Q1 2026 data (HS 150 & 151) breaks down where India's edible oil comes from and what's changing:

Top 5 sources:

1. Indonesia: US$1.05B, crude palm oil
2. Malaysia: US$1.02B, crude palm oil and palm kernel
3. Argentina: US$877M, crude soybean oil, confirmed as India's top supplier
4. Russia: US$668M, crude sunflower oil, now #1 sunflower supplier to India
5. Thailand: US$228M, backup palm oil origin

The basket is shifting. In April 2026, palm oil imports fell to a 12-month low, soybean oil rose 24%. Palm oil's traditional price advantage is narrowing, and Indian refiners are diversifying toward soy and sunflower.

Russia's rise to #1 sunflower supplier, displacing Ukraine, is the clearest single-lane shift in the 2025-26 data. Supply chain reliability drove the switch.

AWL Agri Business (Adani Wilmar JV) is India's top edible oil buyer at 17.68% share, followed by Patanjali Foods (10.62%) and Gokul Agro Resources (8.99%).

Who controls UAE onion imports in 2025?

According to TradeInt's verified customs data under HS 07031010, one company stands out:

KAZAGROPROM FZ LLC holds 23.29% of all UAE onion import shares, a Kazakhstan-affiliated free-zone entity that has become the country's primary Central Asian onion gateway. Behind it, GHULAM MUHAMMED VEGETABLES FRUITS sits at 7.29% and BAYT AL AMAN VEGETABLES FRUITS at 3.77%.

Every other importer holds under 2%.

On the supply side, India (59.64%), Kazakhstan (23.29%), and Pakistan (16.33%) together cover 99.26% of all UAE onion imports, a concentration level that drove significant government intervention when regional tensions pushed prices up in early 2026.

The UAE government responded with 7,000+ retail inspections, AED 200,000+ in fines, and strategic stockpile releases from a six-month national onion reserve.
