🌎Last week, our Head of Product Portfolio Kyrylo Hrinchak joined colleagues from the ecosystem on the judging panel for 2026, a national programming tournament for teens, run by Star for Life Ukraine, with four teams making it to the final.

This is where the Sigma Software Group ecosystem shows its real synergy. Labs works with founders bringing products to market today. Star for Life supports the young minds who may shape what comes tomorrow. Last week, those two worlds met in the same room – and the winning team proved the point. At just 15, they were already making real product decisions: prioritizing, cutting scope, and thinking about the user.

Congrats to all four finalists – every team came a long way to get to that room, and the level across the board made the judging genuinely hard. The win went to Рогатинці (Rohatyntsi) and their project MDVL – a coordination platform for group field activities: live tracking on a map, QR checkpoints, geo-zones, and an SOS button for emergencies. Of all four projects, it started from the clearest real problem – and it showed in every decision they made.

🦄 Lia Dunina, Mykhailo Tretiak, Denys Balyuk, Volodymyr Mukha – they're heading to ETH Zürich, one of the best technical universities in the world, as the tournament's grand prize.

Thanks, Star for Life Ukraine, for having us. Meeting founders this early – before they even know they're founders – is exactly the kind of thing we want to keep doing.

Over two months, the finalists of the program refined their business strategies and adapted their solutions to the market with the support of real agricultural companies. On July 30, five of them present the results at the MVP2Pilot Demo Day, and our COO, Yaroslava Gritsaienko joins the expert jury.

🚀Our portfolio startup Buntar Aerospace has built Remote Control – a Buntar Copilot feature enabling fully remote piloting of the Buntar-3 UAV during combat missions.2

Instead of layering the feature on top of third-party remote access tools, the team built it into the Buntar Copilot platform itself, with separate independent streams for video, telemetry, and logs. That is the harder route, but the one that holds up under combat conditions.

This kind of engineering judgment and a behind the product is what we are looking for in to invest in.

Buntar Aerospace представили Remote Control — нову функцію Buntar Copilot, яка дозволяє пілоту виконувати бойовий виліт на БпЛА «Бунтар-3», перебуваючи у глибокому тилу.

Як це працює: технічна команда виїжджає на точку запуску, встановлює антену, ноутбук і Starlink, готує борт і піднімає його в повітря, після чого залишає позицію. Ця точка стає ретранслятором, через який пілот і оператор камери підключаються до борту з будь-якого місця з інтернетом.

Усе відбувається в одному застосунку — Buntar Copilot, без залучення сторонніх програм для віддаленого доступу. Відео з камер, телеметрія борта, телеметрія антени та log-файли передаються окремими потоками, що забезпечує надійність та стабільність управління під час польоту.

«У будь-якій війні є ресурс, який неможливо відновити, — людське життя. Оператор — найцінніше, що є у розвідувальному комплексі. У його підготовку держава викладає багато ресурсу і ми маємо робити все можливе, щоб забрати його з-під прямого удару і залишити йому роль мозку операції. Ми переконані, що війна майбутнього — це війна технологій, де ризикує залізо, а не пілоти», — пояснює співзасновник Buntar Aerospace Bohdan Sas.

На відміну від більшості рішень на ринку, які використовують чужий софт, не призначений під ці задачі, Buntar Aerospace розробив Remote Control як частину власної платформи з нуля — кожен тип даних має власний канал і свою стійкість до навантаження.

Технічний персонал перебуває на позиції лише задля швидкого встановлення обладнання, запуску, посадки та згортання. Пілот і оператор виконують місію, перебуваючи у глибокому тилу — за сотні, або й тисячі кілометрів від лінії бойового зіткнення. Це дозволяє вберегти спеціалістів з цінними навичками та кардинально скоротити час, коли наші люди перебувають у небезпечній зоні.

🇺🇦 Last week Ukraine's product community gathered in Kyiv for DOU Product Day. Our Head of Product Portfolio Kyrylo Hrinchak, who oversees 35+ products across Sigma Software Labs, visited the event and gathered three insights worth your attention.

1 – At Сільпо, a regular employee with no coding background built a full job-seeker platform in three weeks – the work that engineers had estimated at six months. Which means the race has changed: it's no longer about who has the best dev team, it's about whose people can test their own ideas fastest. If yours still can't, you're now slower than a supermarket network.

2 – Deployment speed is an architecture issue, not a headcount issue. ПриватБанк ships 50+ releases a week – in a regulated domain with 7M+ daily users. Not because they have more engineers, but because their teams don't wait for each other. Try their test in your company: if another team can't start using your service within an hour, without a single call or meeting, you've built legacy, not a platform.

3 – tech is not a wartime niche, it's where the region's next big companies are being built. The pattern has a precedent: in 1958, defence contracts hardened a one-year-old Fairchild Semiconductor – and its tech outgrew defence to become the integrated circuit, Apollo, and eventually Silicon Valley. Ukraine is running that same cycle right now, live and battle-tested. Whoever waits for the war to end before taking this space seriously will be reading about these companies instead of backing them.

Three insights, one common thread: the advantage now goes to those who move first – whether it's testing an idea, opening up architecture, or backing the right teams early.

🌎 The knowledge is free now. Anyone in , , or the can take the exact same Y Combinator course founders swear by. So our Head of Product Portfolio, Kyrylo Hrinchak, took it – and it left him with an uncomfortable question: if we all study the same thing, why is our ecosystem still nowhere near the Valley's?

His answer is that the course teaches you what to do but assumes everything around you already exists – capital nearby, people who've built before, infrastructure that compounds. In the Valley, a good idea is a few coffees away from its first check. Here it's often a few flights and a relocation. What he thinks we should do about it is the part worth reading.

I just finished Y Combinator's Startup School. Not the in-person batch in San Francisco – the online curriculum, the one anyone in the world can take, for free. I went in half-expecting a polished funnel for YC applications. I came out thinking it's the most useful foundational course for founders...
