DiverseIT and our TechUp! New Mexico project—funded by the New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE)—recently made a trip to To’hajiilee to provide laptops for folks in that community! A big part of this project is getting devices to rural and tribal communities, so it was great to partner with the To’hajiilee Navajo Chapter on this event.
Our tech team helped tribal elders, students, and lots of people in between, giving out 18 computers in one day.
There are not many resources in rural parts of New Mexico and it was an honor to help this community.
This was a also a nice visit home for Karen Platero on our team who grew up in this small community located west of Albuquerque and north of I-40. She helped to coordinate this event. It was also pretty special to watch her connect with young students who were inspired that she knew so much about computers.
