Congratulations to Hilary who recently completed her WordPress training certificate to broaden her knowledge on website work!

Hilary explained that she first got into websites with a blog that she writes to review books and video games. As a person with a disability that affects her ability to commute to in-person work, she says that being able to work from home on websites has been wonderful.

Through the program, funded by the Encantado Foundation, Hilary built her own website and she helped work on the DiverseIT website, too!

She also explained that websites are an important point of access for folks in the community who don't have a phone or regular access to technology, and it's important to her to be able to broaden access to website resources for everyone.

Keep up the great work Hilary!

Congratulations to Patrick who recently completed his Google IT Support Professional certificate thanks to funding from the Encantado Foundation!

Patrick has many skills, working previously as a machinist, in shipping and receiving, delivery work, facilities, HVAC, plumbing, and auto mechanics to name a few. Along the way, a work accident left him blind in one eye and ready to pursue new skills. He explains that he chose to learn IT because it "scratches the same itch" as some of his previous jobs.

With his Google IT training, he has set his sights on a career in IT and is considering data entry or possibly even building technology and machines! He is grateful to have found our DiverseIT program because it is allowing him to pursue this knowledge in a timely and cost effective way, without having to go to college for a degree.

Keep up the great work Patrick!

We'd like to give a HUGE thank you to the New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) for funding a pilot project to help us give out laptops across New Mexico the last several months. 💻🤝🤩

Through the TechUp! New Mexico project, Adelante DiverseIT has been able to help 170 people in rural New Mexico get access to laptops, software, a tech resources book, as well as eight free trainings to help them successfully adopt these devices.

Since beginning this effort in January, we have hosted events in Mesilla, Las Cruces, Los Lunas, Moriarty, To'hajiilee, Grants, and Rio Rancho.

We appreciate OBAE for entrusting DiverseIT with this project and helping us expand digital access in so many communities! We are wrapping up the pilot this month and hope this work can continue in some way.
