Atlanta is about to have the world's eyes on it for the 2026 World Cup, and South Downtown was built back to be ready for it.

Phase One was timed to open ahead of the matches. We were in those buildings for months getting the wiring, network, cameras, and internet in so these spaces could open on their dates.

When you are down there this summer, the district you are walking through was a set of empty century-old buildings not long ago. Good to see it full again.

Quick one. When people think storm prep, they think generators. Here is what actually saves a business a bad Monday.

A security camera you can pull up on your phone after a storm, so you are not driving downtown at midnight to see if the lights are on.

A moisture sensor sitting where a leak would start, so a Saturday-night drip does not turn into a Monday-morning flooring bill.

A phone bill we actually read, so the dead lines get killed and the company cells live on one plan we manage.

Same crew handles the wiring, phones, cameras, alarm, and internet. One call, not twenty.

We’re in Dallas this week with Telarus digging into what is actually moving from “interesting technology” into real-world business deployments.

Three themes keep coming up:

• AI is moving into production, but companies are quickly discovering that their data, networks, and existing systems have to be ready first.

• Cameras are becoming business systems, not just security systems. Computer vision and AI are creating use cases around operations, safety, occupancy, customer behavior, and process improvement.

• 5G and IoT are getting much more practical, particularly for multi-location businesses that need resilient connectivity, remote monitoring, and better visibility across locations.

That’s the part we’re especially interested in at Justin Hall Consulting: taking technologies that sound impressive in a conference room and figuring out where they actually create measurable value in the field.

This afternoon we’re diving deeper into IoT and 5G and meeting with vendors building these solutions.

A little Atlanta history. Broad Street in South Downtown used to be a busy market corridor, and Hotel Row on Mitchell Street served Terminal Station back when it opened in 1905. The district went quiet after the station came down in 1972.

That is actually why the old facades were still standing to save. Now they are coming back, and we got to run the wire that brings these century-old buildings into 2026.

Pretty cool to be a small part of that.

Storm readiness is connectivity, alarms, and the old phone lines. It is also a few things owners are surprised we handle:

Business cell phones. Still getting a phone bill with lines nobody can explain? We read the bill, kill the dead lines, and put the company cells on one plan we manage.

Security cameras. Check the building from your phone after a storm instead of driving over at midnight to see if the lights are on.

Smart building sensors. A moisture sensor in the right spot catches a Saturday-night leak before it becomes a Monday-morning flooring bill.

It is all the same idea: one contractor for the wiring, phones, cameras, alarm, and internet. When something breaks, you make one call instead of twenty.

Behind the scenes at three of the new South Downtown spots.

At Bottle Rocket, Mule Train, and Delilah's Everyday Soul, we did the full build: structured cabling throughout, business Wi-Fi and the network, cameras and alarm, audio/visual, and internet with failover so the doors never have to close over a dead connection.

Everything a busy restaurant runs on, put in the right way before opening night.

Bottle Rocket and Delilah's Everyday Soul are open now. Mule Train is opening soon.

You do not solve a storm outage with a generator and a prayer. You solve it with a second way out.

A cellular backup router sits behind your main internet circuit. When the main line drops, our RabbitRun SD-WAN sees it and switches traffic over to the backup automatically. Nobody in the office reboots anything or flips a switch. In most cases nobody even notices.

The phones keep ringing. The card machines keep running. The cameras keep recording.

That is the whole idea: the storm hits, and your day keeps going.

If you are downtown, a few South Downtown spots are open and worth a visit: El Tesoro, Glide, Broad Street BBQ, Brewhouse Cafe, Bottle Rocket, and Delilah's Everyday Soul.

We had a hand in the wiring and systems behind these spaces. Mule Train is wired and opening soon.

Grab a bite, take a walk down Broad Street, and watch the district come back block by block.

Here is the storm cost nobody sees on a report.

Most business phones ride the internet now. When the storm takes the circuit down, the phones go down with it. Your callers get ring-no-answer, and a caller who gets ring-no-answer does not leave a voicemail. They move on to the next company on the list.

You never get a bill for the calls you never received. That is exactly why it is easy to ignore, and exactly why it costs real money.

A backup circuit keeps the phones ringing when the main line is down. Build it in before the storm, not after.

Email [email protected] and we will tell you where you stand.

Something we are proud of: South Downtown Atlanta is coming back to life, and we got to run the wire behind Phase One.

This is a 16-acre historic district right off Five Points, full of early-1900s buildings that sat quiet for decades. Now it is filling back up with restaurants and shops ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

We handled the inside wiring for most of Phase One and set the cameras and access control alongside it. The stuff you never see, that makes the buildings actually work.

Go check it out. Atlanta is worth getting right.
