Just ran across a news story about people using AI to create copies of receipts, altering the dollar amount and presenting them to businesses, demanding a refund. Here's the link: https://www.wowt.com/2026/10/13/store-says-ai-generated-receipt-was-used-secure-fraudulent-purse-refund/
Now. Since this is apparently a thing, and we do have a 30-day return/refund window, we're going to make a new requirement: In order to receive a refund, a receipt from us is required. We will take the time to scan the receipt and make sure they match. If they do not, we will be honoring the receipt we have in the system.
Tell ya what...we just can't stop constantly watching out.

Employees said a fake receipt was used to get a warranty refund on a purse the store doesn't carry.

Once again, Randy's phone has gotten infested with garbage to the point it's unusable. It's ringing every 45 seconds, and is the same bot-scammers calling every time. Caller ID is showing spoofed numbers all across the nation including local area and even using his own address book. We're going to have to turn it off for a few days. Many of you know that the actual number of Randy's Computer belongs to a cell phone we keep in a drawer. Keep using that number and leave voicemails. We'll cart it around for a couple of days and check the messages frequently, or use my cell number. But it won't accept texts.

PLEASE CALL ONE TIME AND LEAVE A VOICEMAIL.

Don't do the thing where if you wanted to talk to a machine, you'd talk to your toaster, so you keep calling back until one of us answers. We'll get back to you as soon as we can, and when Randy's phone isn't under siege any more, we'll go back to normal. You'd think if Verizon can identify a potential spam call, they might be able to stop us from being taken hostage by 'bots, but there must be money to be made somehow.

Just a reminder: we are closed for the day and getting ready to leave for the airport. If you have an emergency, please leave a voicemail, and Randy will get back to you as soon as he can. Further reminder: Randy will be here for normal business hours tomorrow and Monday. Tuesday, we're opening at 1:30 for the day. Plans changed so we had to bump it back. Also, he has decided "Saw" isn't on his list for things to do while I'm gone, so he should be much calmer on Monday. Wish us luck!
