Selenium often gets pulled into performance testing because it already runs browser workflows. But functional testing and performance testing are built for different questions. Selenium can capture useful browser timing signals like DOM load and TTFB, but it still represents a single user running a full browser session—not real concurrent load.
In our latest blog, we break down:
• What Selenium can realistically measure
• Where it starts producing misleading results
• Why scale exposes infrastructure limits, not just application behavior
• How teams split responsibilities between Selenium and load testing tools
