SmartSDR Basic™ and SmartSDR+™ v4.2.20 is a SmartSDR+ Feature Access software and firmware release for Aurora™, FLEX-8000™, and FLEX-6000™ series SDRs, as well as Maestro™. This version supersedes all previous SmartSDR releases and is available to all users. Access to new features in this release is available to all SmartSDR+ feature license holders.

This release has many important and significant changes. Please review the SmartSDR v4.2.20 Release Notes before installing.

Through an AFWERX hashtag contract, FlexRadio developed a prototype radio designed for unmanned aerial vehicles. This new form factor reduces size, weight, and power to fit into various drone platforms and enable a host of United States Department of War missions.

A team of 7 operators will be activating Lord Howe Island from 1–14 June 2026, using the contest callsign VJ2L. This is a DX-Marathon activation, and we'll be working as many DXCC entities and Zones as possible in the 2026 DX Marathon contest.
Whether you're chasing a new DXCC entity, need band-slots, or are hunting POTA, SOTA, or IOTA credits — this is your chance to get Lord Howe Island in the log!

FlexRadio Announces SmartSDR v4.2.18. SmartSDR v4.2.18 is a SmartSDR+ Early Access release. This release includes important new features, driver updates, and bug fixes.

We strongly encourage all Aurora, FLEX-8000, and FLEX-6000 owners to keep their systems up to date with all SmartSDR v4 releases to ensure they receive cumulative fixes, new features, and incremental improvements.
