SEO isn’t dead. It just has a new roommate. 🤝

People aren’t only Googling “best remodeler near me” anymore. They’re asking ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other AI platforms who to hire, what things should cost, and how to approach their projects.

That’s where AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) comes in.

The good news? You don’t need to throw out your SEO strategy and start over. AEO builds on many of the same fundamentals: a technically sound website, helpful content, clear information about what you do and where you do it, structured data, FAQs, real expertise, reviews, and authority across the web.

SEO helps your website get found. AEO helps your brand become part of the answer.

We cover both, plus what contractors should actually be doing about AI search in 2026, in our newly updated Construction Marketing Guide. 🔗 Grab it in the comments ⬇️

Marketing changed a lot in 2026. So we rewrote the playbook.

Our AEC Marketing Guide has officially been updated for 2026, including some pretty major additions around how people are finding and evaluating architecture, engineering, and construction firms today.

Inside, we're digging into:

🤖 AEO + getting your brand found in AI-generated answers
💬 ChatGPT Ads and what we're learning from actually running them
🔎 How SEO is changing (and what absolutely still matters)
📊 Measuring visibility across traditional + AI search
📣 Updated channel strategies for paid, organic, social + more
🛠️ The AI tools we're actually using in our own marketing workflows

Plus all the fundamentals that haven't changed: building a strong website, choosing the right channels, measuring what matters, and turning marketing into actual business opportunities.

If you're responsible for marketing an AEC company and feel like the playbook changed overnight...it kind of did.

So we updated ours. Get it in the comments ⬇️

You finally made it to the top of Google.

And your phone is ringing off the hook.

Unfortunately, it’s mostly people trying to sell you SEO. 😂

Rankings matter. Traffic matters. But neither pays the bills on its own.

The goal isn’t just to get your construction company seen. It’s to get in front of the right people, for the right services, in the right markets, and turn that visibility into qualified opportunities.

Because 1,000 website visitors who were never going to hire you aren’t nearly as valuable as the right one who will.

Visibility is great. Qualified leads are better.

The next generation of project managers has entered the chat.

The RFIs will still be late. The schedule will still change. The client will still move the wall.

But the email sign-offs?

Those are about to get significantly better.

Contractors: which one are you sending? 😂

SEO reporting isn't enough anymore.

People are increasingly asking ChatGPT and other AI platforms the questions they used to type into Google. That means brands need to understand not only where they rank in search, but whether they’re showing up in AI-generated answers.

We’ve been tracking AI visibility for our clients through AthenaHQ, and now we’ve built that data directly into our monthly reporting dashboards.

Shoutout to Kate, our resident Looker Studio expert, for whipping these up and making a whole lot of AI visibility data actually easy to understand. 👏

Because if the way people search is changing, the way we measure visibility should change with it.

A classic look, sharpened up.

Deep blues, clean typography, and a timeless layout give these business cards a polished, professional feel without overcomplicating the design.

Sometimes simple really does it best.

Another day, another lookbook. 📖

When the homes are this beautiful, our job gets a whole lot easier.

One thing we love about this particular piece is the strategy behind it. This builder is construction-only, not design-build, so one of their biggest referral sources is local architects.

Rather than keeping these lookbooks on a shelf, they hand-deliver multiple copies to architecture firms. The architects get a tangible portfolio of the builder's craftsmanship, and clients visiting those offices naturally pick them up and flip through them while they're waiting or discussing their own projects.

It's a simple way to stay top of mind with referral partners while also marketing directly to future homeowners.

Sometimes the best marketing isn't digital. It's the piece someone can't help but pick up.

Tired of us talking about proposals and qualifications packages yet? 😅

They're one of the highest-ROI marketing assets AEC firms have.

Here's the reality: your proposal isn't being read cover to cover. It's being scanned.

Reviewers are looking for proof of experience, differentiators, key people, and reasons to trust you. Great proposal design guides their eyes to those moments instead of making them hunt for them.

Design doesn't just make proposals look better. It helps your story get told faster.

Because when you're competing against equally qualified firms, clarity can be a competitive advantage.

Most proposal reviewers don't read your proposal front to back. They scan for the information they need, then dive deeper into the sections that matter most.

That's why proposal design isn't just about making your submission look polished. It's about making your value impossible to miss.

Strong visual hierarchy, compelling project photography, clear callouts, and thoughtfully designed layouts help reviewers quickly understand who you are, what sets you apart, and why you're the right choice.

If your proposal is saying all the right things, make sure the design helps people actually see them.

One of the first things we evaluate when a commercial contractor wants to move up to larger, more complex projects?

Their branding. Especially their jobsite signage.

It's one of the most overlooked marketing assets in construction. Yet over the course of a project, that sign is seen hundreds or even thousands of times by subcontractors, architects, engineers, developers, owners, and the surrounding community.

For the cost of a single sign, you have months (or years) to reinforce how you want your company to be perceived.

If you're trying to graduate into larger projects, make sure your branding already looks like it belongs there.
