After 3 years in business, I'm finally feeling clear enough about what it is I do to offer some standard prices for my most common services. I'm still happy to work things out on a case-by-case basis as needed (BARTERS WELCOME!), but I hope this will help folks get a sense of what I offer and what it might cost.

Simple Portrait
A 1.5 hour session for one or two people, and high resolution digital copies of the best resulting photos. Perfect for senior portraits, engagement sessions, professional head shots, parent and child, or person and pet photos. I will edit the images to adjust lighting and do some minimal retouching. For more detailed retouching, choose the complex portrait. The number of images will depend on how many come out well. The goal is to create one quality portrait, but I always deliver more options when possible. See below for examples.

Complex Portrait
A 1.5 hour session for a larger group, or for an individual who wants more detailed retouching, and high resolution digital copies of the finished photo(s). A note on retouching: I think you’re more beautiful with your imperfections, so I don’t advise a lot of heavy “photoshopping”, but I’m happy to talk about what you have in mind. Maybe you’d like to be cut out from your background and sat upon a tiny mushroom, but you’d rather pay a human than destroy the environment by using AI? Hit me up! Larger groups always require more editing, because I will combine each person’s best take into one image, resulting in a seamlessly blended shot where no one is blinking and everyone looks their best. In some cases I can even add someone who wasn’t there, as in one of the examples below.

Pricing Our Services:
For many projects it’s best to meet first and talk through what you’re looking for and your budget before arriving at a price. We offer a sliding scale, and try to strike a balance between offering clients something of value that feels worth the price, and paying ourselves fairly for our labor so we can keep doing this work in a sustainable way.

For a few of our more common types of projects, we offer a fixed price so you know what you’re getting into beforehand.

Logo Design:
We will work together to brainstorm the audience, goals and general vibe of your brand, organization, business, or campaign. I’ll then combine color, typography and shape to create a unique and recognizable logo to represent you in the world. I will check in with you at several points along the way for feedback to ensure we arrive at a result that we’re all happy with.

LOGO DESIGN EVOLUTION: Hand Crafted Edition! This project with got much more crafty than my usual work, which felt great! It started with a block print of blueberries that .pearse made, and some reference photos taken at the downtown hardware store. I went through a few iterations of the blueberry rake with feedback from friends, neighbors, and the other Barren Witches in the collective before settling on a pose that was recognizable and balanced (they are a very odd shape!). I then printed, traced, and cut it out as a block print so it would have a similar hand-made feel to Gloria's part. Then scanned it back in, cleaned it up, narrowed down from 20+ font choices and a few color options to one we were all happy with, and ta-da! In an unsolicited marketing email, a fellow said he “was really impressed with your commitment to being women-owned while excelling in design, photography, and video—bravo.” Wow, thanks! I do like being woman-owned. 🤦‍♀️ I have such an aversion to this kind of impersonal (probably AI-generated) marketing-speak. It sometimes makes me question what I’m doing having a media business and trying to promote myself on gross capitalist platforms like this. But I’m reminding myself that I don’t need to compete with “people” like this who value the hollow reward of “engagement” over actual human connection. I’m only here in the hopes of reaching some real, live, local humans who might want my real-life, in-person offerings: capturing moments of their lives in photographs, or understanding what they want to say and helping them present it clearly and beautifully. If you know someone who needs this kind of work, send ‘em my way. Because I’m probably not going to “hit 249K reach”, as this guy is promising, anytime soon. But don’t worry: he also says “I ensure you we can part ways if you’re not interested.” Phew.

Logo design evolution, political sign edition! I’m so excited to be supporting Nickie Sekera in her run for the state house. She has been a tireless force of nature in the fight to protect Sears Island/Wahsumkik/Haselnut Island, and I’d love to see her in a position to do even more good.
