Hello there!

Shaun here – illustrator of all things sci-fi, nerdy, folk, and a dash of weird. A graphic designer by trade, I’ve slowly been shifting towards more comic-inspired illustration work. Heavy line art, cartoon-inspired doodles, flat retro colors…

I’m a “born in the 80s but grew up in the 90s” kid with a soft spot for all things 80s retro. I’m big on movies, tv shows, video games, board games… anything with a good story!

Working on another project for Mike Lowery’s Getting Paid to Draw course.

This time was an editorial illustration. I was reading a recent Game Informer article about the overall vibe at this year’s 2026 GDC Festival of Gaming conference. The article painted a slightly bleak picture of an industry I love that has been devastated by mass corporate layoffs, studio closures, and the looming threat of AI.

In my illustration, I combined the idea of an empty conference room floor with the top-down layout of a Pac-Man level.

Last year, I had the pleasure of working with the incredible team at Anakeesta to illustrate a fun shirt design for them!

Located in the heart of the Smoky Mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee – Anakeesta is an outdoor family adventure park offering zip lining, gondola rides, a treetop play experience, lots of incredible food, premium shopping experiences, live entertainment, and so much more.

The team approached me with the idea of a campfire jamboree of various woodland critters and animals native to the Smoky Mountains and I absolutely loved the idea!

We worked on a few concepts and lots of color options before settling on this final festive design.

I’ve been enjoying 's Getting Paid to Draw course. Last week, we were tasked with illustrating a series of 12 icons for a possible client. You know me, I had to make it… different…

These were really fun to do and I think they would make a cool sticker / flash sheet.

A while back, I thought I’d take a stab at children’s book illustration.

Apart from a few books and greeting cards – I wasn’t doing much in that arena and decided to pull back to focus on graphic design.

Now that I’m settling back into illustration, I thought it would be fun to revisit some of these concepts with a fresh coat of paint in my new style.
