⭐ August Nextpert Spotlight: Meet Rajiv! ⭐
As part of our Data Engineering team, Rajiv helps make sure our data tells the right story. He brings a thoughtful approach to problem-solving, always looking for cleaner, more reliable ways to get things done. Outside of work, you might find him biking, trying a new restaurant, stargazing, building LEGO sets, or making a weekend Costco run.
🔸 Tell us about your role at Nextpoint. What does a typical day look like for you?
"I’m in Data Engineering, so I spend a lot of time making sure the data people rely on is trustworthy. Some days that means building or fixing a pipeline; other days it’s figuring out what a metric should mean or cleaning up a dashboard. I might start by checking whether something broke overnight, then jump into a conversation about a new report and later trace a number back to its source. What I like about the role is the range: I get to work across teams, solve different problems, and see the tools we build actually get used."
🔸 How do you approach problem-solving and innovation in your role?
"I try not to solve the symptom first. I want to understand what’s actually going on and think about whether the fix will still hold up next month. I also try to build with automation in mind from the start, so we don’t have to redo the same work by hand later. I’d rather spend a little extra time checking the source than ship something that looks right and isn’t. Innovation, for me, isn’t always the flashiest tool. A lot of the time, it’s finding a cleaner, more repeatable way to solve the problem."
🔸 What is one piece of technology you can’t live without, and why?
"My smartwatch. I wear it throughout the day to stay organized and keep up with notifications without constantly checking my phone. It helps me stay focused and in the moment. I’d notice quickly if I didn’t have it — mostly because my phone would suddenly feel a lot harder to put down."
🔸 What do you enjoy doing outside of work to recharge?
"I like splitting time between getting out and staying in. In the summer, I’ll hop on my bike, try a new restaurant, explore somewhere I haven’t been, or go stargazing. And yes, a weekend Costco run almost always makes the list. At home, I like playing co-op games with friends, building LEGO sets, or working on a puzzle. It’s a nice mix of movement, exploring, and slower-paced activities that have nothing to do with work."
