Guy called Tuesday, third shop he'd rung that morning. Every one of them told him the same thing: "come by for a quote." No numbers. No range. Nothing. He just wanted to know if a semi wrap was $2,000 or $20,000 before he burned half a day driving around Chicago.
So here's the honest answer, up front.
A full semi wrap in Chicago runs $7,500 to $12,000 for the tractor, and $3,500 to $6,500 per trailer side depending on square footage and how much of the trailer you're covering. Partial wraps and door-and-panel jobs start around $1,800. Cast vinyl (the stuff that actually lasts 7-8 years on a rig), full design, in-house install, removal at end of life. No middlemen, no farming it out.
Why the range? A day cab is not a sleeper. A flat panel is not a corrugated re**er. Rivets, compound curves, and trailer ribbing all eat labor hours. Anybody quoting you a flat number over the phone without asking about the truck is guessing, and you'll pay for that guess later in change orders.
25 years doing this, 19,400+ vehicles out the door, 2,800+ fleet accounts, zero paint damage claims. That's the reason I can price it plainly instead of hiding behind a "come see us."
Send me photos of the tractor and trailer, or swing by the shop in Portage Park. I firm it up once I see the vehicle.
What are you hauling, and how many units in the fleet?
