In the heart of Corrales, New Mexico, Ideum has emerged as a leader of innovation and excellence in the manufacturing sector. For the second year in a row, we have ranked as one of the largest manufacturers in New Mexico by Albuquerque Business First in their 2026 list of top manufacturing firms. As we celebrate this recognition, the company remains focused on innovation and excellence. Our congratulations to the other manufacturers who made the list!

Did you know that U.S. National Parks offer free entry on Memorial Day? 🌲🌄 If you haven’t made weekend plans yet, consider a weekend trip to the Volcano Discovery Center located inside the Valles Caldera National Preserve. To represent this significant landscape, Ideum, in collaboration with the National Park Service, created a 12-foot topographic relief map and interactive exhibit to experience the rich history of this site. 🌋

We also developed four interactive stations offering games and activities tied to one of four themes: Cultural History, Geology, Ecology, and Scientific Discovery.

The Volcano Discovery Center sits more than a mile from the park’s main entrance, so Ideum and the NPS created a way to draw visitors into the new interactive exhibit hall. At the Welcome Station, a 65” Ideum Presenter is programmed to be a Digital Docent providing maps, FAQs, and other day planning tools. Most notably, it includes a countdown clock inviting guests to witness the volcanic eruption every hour that you won’t want to miss! ⏱️

Since the first studio party over a decade ago, Ideum’s annual event has become much anticipated among industry professionals, partners, and neighbors. 🎉 This year’s gathering, held on the evening of May 7, was no exception. We welcomed hundreds of visitors from around the state to enjoy an evening of local food and refreshments while getting hands-on with our latest projects last week.

Guests got to see brand new, unreleased work as well as revisit some of our favorite classic exhibits. Our design and production teams also gave behind the scenes tours of both the production and design spaces, teaching visitors about our tools and process.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our work and meet with the incredible people that make the event so rewarding. If you missed the party this year, don’t worry! You can sign up for our mailing list to receive news from Ideum, including information about new projects and upcoming events. 📧

Tangible Engine version 3.1 is now available for purchase with Ideum touch tables. This latest release includes built-in support for ring (or “donut”) and triangle-shaped tangible objects. The new updates come just after the 10th anniversary of Tangible Engine’s release!

We built Tangible Engine for ourselves at first, and we developed some interesting projects with Starbucks and JCB wines, to mention a few. Given the strong interest in the technology, we decided to release it as a product in 2016. We rapidly developed its features, adding rotation, multiscreen support, many of which were requested by other design firms. We developed a visualizer, improved the software (and the ability to “tune it” for reliability), and eventually we created support for a wide range of tangible objects of different shapes and sizes.

To read more from Ideum’s founder and creative director, Jim Spadaccini, about how “adding objects (or consumables like wine, coffee, etc.) can create unexplored experiences in which digital technology and physical objects work together to elevate social interaction,” head to the link in our bio.
