Meet the team behind the tech at Ideum. This is who's been designing the touch table your kids can't stop playing with at the science museum. Once upon a time, we were the ones pressing our sticky little fingers on every "do not touch" sign in the exhibit hall– now we build the exhibits. 🦕🖐️

From Tulsa to OKC, Ideum has left an indelible mark on some of Route 66's most storied museums. At the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, we developed an immersive exhibit that allows visitors to dynamically pan, zoom, and explore more than 500 synagogues. The exhibit was designed to showcase photographer Louis Davidson’s stunning images from around the world. At the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, we provided touch tables & touch displays over the last decade to honor history through meaningful, interactive storytelling. More recently, we had the pleasure of returning to collaborate with Oklahoma History Center on a dedicated centennial interactive application for their exhibit The Longest Stretch: Route 66 in Oklahoma. Through a map of historic Route 66, visitors can explore both historical and modern communities, discovering their unique details and highlights. To focus on specific areas of interest, such as roadside attractions, visitors have the option to filter these communities and customize their learning experience.

Finally, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, our designs bring the spirit of the American West to life. Using our custom-fabricated Reader Rail Kiosk to control the projection, visitors can choose from over 100 videos spanning 30 years of Professional Bull Riders’ history, including top rides from last season. Debuting this summer, the PBR Heroes & Legends Hall of Fame exhibition at The Cowboy features a blend of physical objects and digital interactives that illustrate the story of rodeo and the PBR. As we progress toward the full grand opening of the National Rodeo Hall of Fame exhibition in November, Ideum’s development will expand to include a jumbotron, a large video wall, and additional digital interactive experiences. Across these different stories, our mission remains exactly the same: turning history into an unforgettable experience.

“The PBR Heroes & Legends Hall of Fame tells the story of the organization and rodeo through objects and digital interactives. Its main exhibit functions like a digital jukebox, showcasing the greatest rides in PBR history, including top riders of the season and their top ten matchups. It also features the latest scores and standings from PBR Teams, offering a comprehensive experience.” –

We kicked off the summer at CreativeCon, hosted by the NM Creative Industries team, and today we swapped roles and hosted their team at Ideum studios for a behind-the-scenes tour, picking up where those conversations left off. ☀️

Last week, the National Rodeo Hall of Fame exhibition opened at The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. The exhibition focuses on the world’s top professional bull riding organization, the Professional Bull Riders, the PBR. Coinciding with the PBR Heroes and Legends Celebration, the opening of the exhibit served to honor those who have significantly impacted the sport of bull riding and the broader rodeo community. Ideum has been working closely with these partners to reimagine the story of rodeo. 🏜

‍In our latest news post, we share a peak into the progress of this project.

Our work with The Cowboy and PBR continues as we prepare to open the National Rodeo Hall of Fame exhibition in November. The focus on rodeo history, as well as current western sports, will continue. A large video wall and a jumbotron are planned, along with new, unique digital interactive experiences focused on the World of Rodeo. ⭐

Disability Pride Month is wrapping up, but our commitment to accessible design isn’t. We’ve partnered with accessibility consultants and communities to test our designs, and even wrote the white paper on accessible design for multitouch tables because the existing standards weren’t built with this technology in mind.

Accessible design isn’t just a feature, it’s the foundation.

You can read more about how design with everyone’s experiences in mind in our most recent news post: https://ideum.com/news/designing-ada-accessible-touch-tables

Just another day at Ideum studios, surrounded by all the little things that make this place feel like ours. Big ideas or final touches, this is where it all comes together. ✨

With the closing of Appearances Deceive this past weekend, we are reflecting on why this project means so much to us. 🧵✨

Working with the Museum of International Folk Art to bring Policarpio Valencia's embroideries to life was an honor from start to finish. Valencia's textiles showcase complex ideas about spirituality, morality, mortality, and a distinct Nuevomexicano voice. Getting to help share those messages, and to hear it read aloud by Valencia's own descendants, grounded this project in something deeper than technology. It was about lineage, place, and story.

This exhibit also pushed our team creatively. Our VFX artists developed new techniques to turn each textile into a 3D cloth simulation, so visitors could flip and manipulate the fabric digitally as if it were real. We hand-cut every embroidered letter to create the glowing text animations synced to those recorded readings, which was a first for us, and a technique we can't wait to build on.

To everyone who visited the exhibit and spent time with Valencia's work: we hope it moved you the way it moved us. Ideum is beyond grateful to MOIFA, to the Valencia family, and to Santa Fe for trusting us with such a meaningful story.
