Huge news, Sampson Community College has launched a new Interactive Map! 🎉

The map keeps campus exploration simple while still giving students, employees, and visitors useful information across accessibility, parking, facilities, programs, student resources, and more.

One detail we especially love is the Health & Wellness category, where the Sampson team has mapped out walking paths around campus so people can easily find a route and fit in some exercise during the day.

Congratulations to Sampson Community College on the launch! Check out the new Interactive Map on their website.

Digital infrastructure is much easier to defend at budget season when you can show what it actually did.

For cities and municipalities, some of the strongest ROI signals are already measurable: organic traffic to event pages, event submissions, hotel occupancy tax, fewer direction requests and staff hours saved.

A centralized events calendar is a great place to start. Each event can create its own searchable landing page, giving residents and visitors more ways to discover what’s happening while creating a clear path to measure traffic and participation.

Connect that calendar to wayfinding, accessibility information, GIS data, and other city systems, and the value compounds because each system becomes more useful.

The key is measuring leading indicators early instead of waiting until the next annual budget cycle to prove the investment worked.

The University of West Alabama launched their Interactive Map! 🎉

The UWA team customized their map with details that highlight both campus and what it feels like exploring it.

They used their existing trail maps to create a dedicated Walking & Nature Trails category, added a night map overlay, and created custom icons throughout the map.

Students, families, and visitors can now easily explore academic buildings, athletics, dining, parking, accessibility resources, campus landmarks, trails, and more.

Congratulations to the University of West Alabama team on creating an easier way to explore everything their campus has to offer.

Move-in day may be the biggest stress test for your campus wayfinding all year.

Thousands of students and families arrive at once, usually navigating temporary traffic patterns, check-in locations, construction detours, unloading zones, and a campus they barely know.

The strongest move-in day maps make those temporary logistics easy to find: searchable parking and residence halls, clearly marked check-in and unloading zones, current closures and detours, accessible routes and entrances, all optimized for mobile.

That helps reduce repetitive questions for staff, keeps traffic moving, and gives students and families more confidence during one of their first major campus experiences.

Move-in day shines a light on every gap in how campus information is organized and shared. A flexible Interactive Map gives higher ed teams a way to keep that information clear, current, and easy to navigate.

Students and families are searching your map for move-in day directions. While they're using your map to get used to your campus, why not promote your welcome week events there too?

Instead of waiting for students to find their community or stumble upon your events calendar, your map can nudge them to attend their first event.

Who knew a campus map could turn directions into connections?

How is your campus promoting welcome week events?

SMU has launched a new Interactive Map for its Taos campus, giving students a head start on exploring a place that may be completely new to them. 🎉

For students considering a semester in Taos, the map offers an early look at campus life through tours of the campus, student housing, and the SMU-in-Taos Cultural Institute.

Once they arrive, students can use the same map to find dining, events, student services, points of interest, and the places they need to get around day to day.

A new campus comes with plenty to discover, congratulations to the SMU team on making Taos a little easier to explore before students arrive and throughout their time there!

When higher ed teams evaluate a campus mapping platform, indoor navigation is only one part of the decision.

A campus map may need to help prospective students explore from home, guide families across outdoor and indoor spaces, surface accessible routes, connect students to events and resources, and adapt quickly during construction, Commencement, or Move-In Day.

That means looking closely at the full experience: indoor and outdoor wayfinding, virtual tours, accessibility, events, administrative control, integrations, and how easily campus teams can keep information current.

For universities, the bigger evaluation is whether an indoor-first platform can support the broader student and visitor journey without adding more vendors, contracts, and custom integrations.

We broke down what higher ed teams should consider when comparing interactive maps with platforms built specifically for the campus experience, read the full blog on our website!
