🎓 Congratulations to our 2026-DEN-03 Cybersecurity graduates! 🥳

Some cohorts leave a special mark, and this was absolutely one of them.

From their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn to the way they consistently showed up for and supported one another, this group brought an incredible spirit to their time at ActivateWork. That energy was infectious for our staff, too.

One learner captured what made the experience so meaningful:

“The sense of belonging is what really mattered to me the most. Everything we learned has had a great impact on my overall journey, but knowing that the ActivateWork team is there cheering for us and wanting us to succeed—that feeling is great!”

And they have plenty to celebrate: 100% of the cohort achieved their CompTIA Security+ certification! 🎉

This week, they put their new skills into practice through a micro-internship at MSU’s Cybersecurity Center, where they participated in live-fire cyber attack simulations and hands-on ticketing.

Hopefully, they're taking the next week to rest, recuperate, and regroup after months of hard work.

After that? We can’t wait to see where their skills, curiosity, and commitment take them. 🚀

After 28 years of transformative leadership, Plinio Ayala will step down as CEO of Per Scholas at the end of 2026.

We are deeply grateful for Plinio’s leadership, friendship, and partnership with our founder, Helen Young Hayes, and ActivateWork. As he shared during a fireside chat with Helen last year:

“Millions of Americans are looking for an opportunity and won’t find it, so it’s our responsibility to keep creating those opportunities. When we do, magic happens.”

We love celebrating stories like this! 💛

Juan Marquez has always been driven by the desire to create stability and opportunity for his family. Despite challenges throughout his life—from early hearing loss to losing his job during the pandemic—Juan never stopped moving forward.

He joined ActivateWork’s training program, stepped into a cybersecurity apprenticeship with Ping Identity, and quickly excelled. That experience led to a full-time role, followed by a promotion to DevOps Engineer, and ultimately helped his family achieve a huge milestone: buying their first home.

Juan’s journey shows what can happen when motivated individuals get access to the right support and on-the-job learning.
