We're excited to share that ActivateWork has once again been recognized by Apprenticeship Colorado as an Exceptional Partner and Qualified Apprenticeship Intermediary! This recognition highlights organizations that are helping expand and strengthen Colorado's Registered Apprenticeship system.

As one of the organizations recognized in Colorado, ActivateWork serves as both an Industry Intermediary and a Talent Intermediary. That means we help employers implement Apprenticeship programs while also recruiting, preparing, and supporting the talent those programs need to succeed.

For employers, Apprenticeship offers a practical, proven way to build a skilled workforce, reduce hiring challenges, and develop talent aligned to your business needs. ActivateWork helps make the process simple by supporting recruiting, training, coaching, and program administration.

Congratulations to three ActivateWork learners who are taking exciting next steps in their careers:

🎉 Sterling Reyes has been hired as an Info Security Analyst Apprentice at Bank of America.
🎉 Krithika Turaka, currently enrolled in our Cybersecurity with AI Tools course, has accepted a position as IT Service Delivery Analyst I at Metro Water Recovery.
🎉 Sunil Vechalapu, an IT Support & Security Fundamentals graduate, will be joining UCHealth as a Virtual Health Technician II.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Through hard work, training, coaching, and determination, these learners are building careers that create lasting opportunity for themselves and their families.

Meet ActivateWork graduate Toa Fifita! 🎉

After completing his Computer Science degree, Toa was ready to build a career in technology. He joined ActivateWork to gain the real-world experience, professional connections, and career support that could help him take the next step. Through our IT Support and Security Fundamentals program, he received specialized technical training, earned his CompTIA A+ certification, and practiced navigating interviews and the professional job market.

Today, Toa is working at Janus Henderson Investors in his first professional IT role. He is gaining hands-on experience, contributing to his team, and exploring where his growing skills could take him next.

“It’s not really just a goal anymore. I’m actually doing it, and that feels good.”

We’re proud to celebrate this exciting chapter in Toa’s career.

Every cohort leaves an impression, but according to our coaches, this group was something special.

"This cohort was honestly one of the strongest we've ever had. There were a lot of natural leaders in there. They all became very close and supported each other not just as cohort members but as friends. There was often a lot of laughter in the room."

We love celebrating career milestones, but we're equally proud of the community that forms along the way. This cohort showed what it means to learn together, support one another, and grow into leaders.

Join us on August 12 at the Biannual Tech Talent Denver Meeting for a conversation about workforce partnerships, talent development, and the future of Colorado's technology workforce.

We're proud that Kathryn Harris, Strategic Advisor for ActivateWork, will be one of the featured panelists. Kathryn will share how ActivateWork is helping connect aspiring tech professionals with opportunities through technology training programs and recent Opportunity Now grant investments.

The event will also feature insights from a statewide roundtable of technology leaders, workforce partners, and Colorado's community college system focused on strengthening workforce and talent partnerships across the state.

When the pandemic turned her life upside down, Sydney Atencio knew she needed a new path forward.

As a working mother navigating job loss and housing instability, she enrolled in ActivateWork's IT Support & Security Fundamentals program to build skills for a stable career in technology.

One of the things that kept Sydney going was her desire to set an example for her older daughter. Throughout the challenges of balancing training, work, and family, she wanted her daughter to see firsthand what determination and sacrifice can accomplish.

After completing the program, Sydney launched a new career in IT and began creating the stability she had been working toward for her family.

Recently, that family grew. Sydney and her husband welcomed a new baby, and one of the outcomes she's most proud of is being able to support her growing family through the career she built. Along the way, she found an employer who celebrated that milestone with her—her colleagues even threw her a baby shower before she began maternity leave.

Her story is a powerful reminder that opportunity doesn't just change careers—it changes lives and creates brighter futures for the people we love.
