Not sure what is going on with Facebook. This is my 3rd attempt at posting. Right now, I will make this short. Just in case this post gets dumped again. Great day with visitors, all the way from Anchorage, Alaska! How special is this? Thank you Emma and Forest for stopping by with all your apple and carrot treats! When they left, I heard one of them say, "I love donkeys!" All I needed to hear. ♥️♥️♥️

So this morning, Pearl who we recently took into the rescue, snuck into the barn at feeding time. I just let her walk around and go where she wanted to go. As I was setting up feed bowls for her half of the barn, she met our resident big ass steer, Buckley. Brought me joy that Buckley and Pearl connected with each other. Pearl has some serious health issue going on. We do not know how long she will be with us on this earth. We love that they both, Buckley and Pearl had a moment to connect and give them both and all of us all a smile.

Today we had Braxton, our farrier, and Dr. Elise Jones to deal with some of our more challenging cases. Trooper was on our list of our top priority. All went well. Trooper did very well and is walking so much better. More photos to come. So grateful for Braxton and Dr. Jones to be here today giving our asses the best of care. ❤️❤️❤️

Trooper is now having to maneuver thru stacks of square bales in the barn to get back to his stall. Thank you to Judy from New Market AL for donating about 50 bales of hay to Crossroads. And a big thanks to Maria from Lucky's Legacy Horse Rescue for coming to help us with the hay bales. Some of those bales weighed over 60lbs each. It pushed us to our limits loading and unloading today but we got the job done. All for the love of our rescues. Feeling tired tonight but very grateful!

It is so hard to let go. Today, we had to let Scoops cross Rainbow Bridge and let him join his best friends, Elsie and Josie on the other side. This was a difficult time here as Scoops spent over 20 plus years here at our Crossroads Donkey family. He was loved by so many of us. thoughout the years. Rest in Peace Scoops. You made us laugh and at times, you made us swear. But in the end, you always brought us joy. We love you Scoops and will miss you. 😇

So, something amazing just happened here at the rescue. Albert and Suzy, who just came into the rescue yesterday, are now getting adopted! Anyone who has followed Crossroads for a long time, knows that we believe in miracles. We had another miracle today. I woke up this morning to a text from a friend, Gina from the Oasis of Grace Ministry in Fayetteville. She wanted 2 donkeys to add to The Oasis Ranch. Well, I knew that Albert and Suzy would be a perfect fit. Within an hour, Gina came out and met them. And now these donkeys will be part of the ministry to be with the people who visit and worship there. There is no doubt that God had his hands in this. We are all feeling very blessed. 😇

The Donkey Express was on the road again today to Lexington, AL. We received a call from a family that their mother had numerous health issues and could no longer care for her donkeys. Their donkeys were well cared for and loved, but at this time, the property that the donkeys were on was going to be sold. As I keep saying, it is not only for the welfare of the donkeys that we do this. We also give peace to the family and owners that Crossroads will do what we can, to keep their animals safe and do our best to find them loving homes. It was an emotional day for the family. Just thankful we could be there for everyone. Beautiful donkeys. We welcome Albert, who is now a gelding, and his daughter, Suzy, to our Crossroads Family.

Crossroads has more visitors today. The Smith family came from Huntsville area to come and visit the rescue donkeys. One of their family members, Kevin, always loved donkeys and the rest of the family came to support. They all showed up with their donkey T-shirts and gave so much love to all the rescue donkeys. They brought joy to us all. Makes us smile! 🥰

The Donkey Express was on the road to Hohenwald, TN today to pick up 3 jennys. Their distraught and upset family contacted Crossroads that the woman who owned and loved these donkeys, unexpectedly passed away. No negative comments please. We knew coming into this that the one jenny was in bad shape. But we wanted to try and give her a chance and see if we could try and help her. We welcome Pearl, her daughter, Mini, and Ruby, into our Crossroads Family. Our resident blind donkey, Indy, was pretty smitten with Pearl. Hoping they can give each other comfort. Very thankful to Joanie, who came with us today and help load and unload our new arrivals. Please send prayers and positive energy to Pearl. Hoping we can help give her relief so she can live out her life here in less pain and with her donkey family.
