Small IT improvements often have the same (if not greater) positive impact on a business as a major rollout, if you know where to aim them.
To find opportunities for small improvements, ask yourself several questions:
Which technology tools drive the most support tickets?
What minor IT issues arise the most frequently?
Where are we relying on tribal knowledge instead of standardized workflows?
Where are our support outliers (i.e. inconsistent software versions, one-off applications, legacy add-ins, etc.)?
What so-called IT solutions do employees avoid the most?
Aiming small improvements at the root concerns that these questions unveil is a simple, quick way to turn mild friction into great reward.
