At Topeka Public Schools, ParentSquare gives families another way to stay connected with their students, while also supporting communication from teachers, coaches, clubs, and activities.

What a summer. ☀️

Our team hit the road for ISTE, NSPRA, COSPRA, the National Charter Schools Conference, ALET Summer, TALAS Annual, SSA, DALI, DATAG, and plenty of stops in between.

Every event brought new conversations, new connections, and a chance to spend time with the people doing incredible work in K-12 communities.

When school communication is spread across different apps, emails, and tools, it can be harder for families to know where to look.

That was the challenge at Charlotte High School.

Coaches, club leaders, and staff were all using different ways to communicate.

Now, those conversations come together in one place, making it easier for staff and families to stay connected and keep communication moving both ways.

Your district probably didn’t plan to end up with five communication tools. So how did we get here?

After 16 years working inside school districts, including sitting in the CTO chair, our SVP of Product Joel Hames has seen what separates school-to-home communication that works from technology that creates more work.

Sometimes a big change starts with a very familiar problem: a paper flyer sitting on the kitchen counter.

Tara White remembers standing in a store trying to recall what she needed to bring to her child’s kindergarten classroom. The information she needed was on a flyer—at home.

It was the kind of everyday moment that showed what Pearl River County School District wanted to change.

The district began by moving away from manually maintained email groups and paper communication.

Then came registration verification, attendance notices, health forms, permission slips, student communication, and eventually school payments.

Along the way, the district reached 100% contactability and found new ways to give staff time back and make things simpler for families.
