Ge**er Union Elementary School District wanted attendance outreach to feel more connected, proactive, and manageable for staff and families alike.

The opportunity? Families were already actively using ParentSquare to stay informed and communicate with their schools.

So the district brought attendance outreach into the same platform families already relied on every day.

With ParentSquare Attendance Plus, staff could manage outreach, follow-up, and communication in one place while connecting with families through familiar channels like text, app notifications, email, and voice.

Sometimes the most meaningful school conversations happen after the school day ends.

Our new AI Conversation Starters feature helps families turn everyday school updates into simple, natural conversations at home.

When teachers or staff share classroom moments, ParentSquare can generate optional questions families can ask their students to encourage reflection, storytelling, and connection.

Because a post about a science experiment can become a dinner table conversation. 💬

“We continue to partner with our families…”

We love seeing DeForest Area School District recognized for its work around attendance and student support.

District leaders recently shared encouraging progress around chronic absenteeism, including rates now below the state average. They pointed to proactive communication, family outreach, and quicker attendance follow-up as part of that improvement.

Stories like this are a great reminder that strong school-home communication can help strengthen relationships across an entire community. 👏

“When you’re choosing a communication platform, you want a true partner.”

For Temple City Unified School District, it was important to work with a partner that understood their district’s needs, goals, and community.

Susana Capra, Public Information Officer at @=Temple City USD, shares why that district-first approach stood out in their experience with ParentSquare.

When Dr. Anny Iacono joined Nuview Union School District, she discovered the district was spending time and resources sending attendance letters that many families never actually received.

Nuview serves a rural California community where mail delivery is unreliable in some areas.

Attendance notices disappeared. Intervention letters went unanswered.

Communication with families often depended on whether someone happened to answer the phone or walk into the office.

Meanwhile, chronic absenteeism had climbed as high as 27–40%, and staff were overwhelmed managing manual processes that weren’t building meaningful family engagement.

Then the district realized something important:

Families were already actively using ParentSquare.

They were messaging teachers. Reading school updates. Communicating in their preferred languages through automatic two-way translation.

The trust and engagement already existed, just not within attendance workflows.

So Nuview implemented ParentSquare Attendance Plus to bring attendance outreach into the same communication platform families already relied on every day.

What happened next surprised the team.

“Almost all of the parents responded. All of a sudden you’re answering, like, 100 messages. We were used to zero,” said Dr. Iacono.

Since implementing ParentSquare Attendance Plus:
• District-wide attendance increased from 92.7% to 94.9%
• Every school improved attendance outcomes
• Families began engaging in proactive conversations with school teams
• Parents arrived at meetings informed and connected instead of surprised or disengaged

But the biggest shift wasn’t just in the data.

It was in the relationships.

Instead of communication only happening when attendance problems escalated, families started receiving personalized outreach that made them feel seen, supported, and connected to their schools.

“Hey, we really missed your kid today.”

As Dr. Iacono explains, those small moments helped families feel like their children mattered.

And that changed everything.

“BobbySquare!”

That’s what students across Floyd County Schools started calling Communications Director Bobby Akers after seeing his ParentSquare snow day posts throughout the district.

Behind the nickname is something bigger: communication that feels personal, familiar, and trusted.

In a recent article, Bobby shared what school communications really looks like today:
📣 Celebrating student success
🏫 Keeping families informed
💬 Supporting communities during difficult moments
❤️ Building stronger school-home connections

One line especially stood out:
“School communication has become personal.”

And that’s exactly what meaningful family engagement should feel like.

We’re proud to support districts like Floyd County Schools as they work every day to keep families connected and informed.
