Two hours of talking about color? Thomas was in his element. Well, mostly… 🤣

On Episode 38 of 🎙️, Thomas recaps his recent trip to the FTA conference in Atlanta, where things got pretty technical.

From printing plates and color density to a conversation about sacrificing quality to cut costs, Thomas had plenty to unpack.

And let’s just say he doesn’t agree with everything he heard.

Well, looks like Thomas AKA "The Hardware Collector" has been at it again...

Another trip to TLMI, another collection of hardware to bring home. 🏆

This year, Hub Labels walked away with the Calvin Frost Sustainability Leadership Award at the Elevation level, along with three Printing Excellence Awards.

Not a bad haul for a repeat offender.

“It’s definitely lonely at the top.”

Not exactly what you’d expect to hear from someone who’s spent decades building a successful printing business.

In EP 37 of 🎙️, Thomas gets candid about the decisions that come with running a business, the responsibility he feels toward his employees, and why he sometimes misses being out on the shop floor.

There’s also a conversation about what you should (and definitely shouldn’t) call him.

This one’s a good one.

What does working with a quality-first printer look like?

It’s more than great print quality. It’s having a team that takes ownership of the details, checks what’s being printed against what the customer supplied, and understands what’s at stake when something gets missed.

Hear from our General Manager, Carrie Aaron, on why quality goes far beyond the finished label.

“It’d be easier if I was a cold-hearted bastard.”

Not exactly what you’d expect to hear from the president of a label company.

In EP 36 of 🎙️, Thomas reflects on the transition from running operations to leading the entire company, and the responsibility that comes with having “100 belly buttons” depending on you.

Because at the end of the day, running a business isn’t just about spreadsheets, production numbers, or the bottom line. It’s about people. And when you know those people personally, their challenges become yours, too.

As Thomas puts it, being cold-hearted might make the job easier. But that’s just not how he’s wired.

Behind every label is a team that knows what goes into making it right.

Since 1978, we’ve been manufacturing labels right here in Maryland, serving businesses in our own backyard and across the country.

Nearly five decades later, our focus remains the same: quality, consistency, dependable service, and relationships built to last.

A full notebook and tons of ideas 💡

In Episode 35 of 🎙️, Thomas takes us through his list of highlights from LOUPE 2026, covering the technologies, conversations, and discoveries that stood out during the show.
One of his biggest takeaways came from an unexpected conversation that revealed a surprisingly simple solution to a costly challenge back at Hub Labels.

A shoutout to Wausau Coated Products, Inc for reading Thomas' mind. They say that's pretty hard to do!

What made it into Thomas' notebook, and which ideas could make their way into our operations?

Tune in to hear his takeaways from LOUPE 2026.
