Drip systems are usually the awkward part of an irrigation plan.

Most design tools handle rotors and heads just fine. Then you get to the drip zones and you're adding rectangles, guessing at emitter counts, and noting coverage in text fields because the software wasn't built for it.

PCS treats drip the same as overhead. Lay out the zone, define emitter spacing, and coverage pulls from the geometry. The plan looks like a drip plan — not a workaround.

When you put a generic sprinkler symbol on a plan, the client can't see which head you're specifying. The contractor can't verify it. And if something gets substituted in the field, there's no reference.

PCS lets you build palettes matched to the exact heads you install — Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, or any brand. Each palette is customizable per client, so the symbols on the drawing match what's going in the ground.

Two updates in PCS this month:

Freehand drawing is now available as a dedicated tool. Click, draw whatever shape you need — no snapping, no construction lines required.

Material lists can now print by layer. If you're drawing a job with irrigation, landscaping, and lighting on separate layers, you can output the material estimate for just one layer at a time.

Three places where PCS removes work from the process:

When you draw a bed, PCS calculates the material volume. Resize the shape — the quantity updates.

When you select an irrigation zone, PCS sizes the mainline and laterals. One click, based on the flow rates you've already specified.

When you export the estimate, the material list comes from the drawing. Nothing to re-enter.

None of these are shortcuts that cut corners. They're just what the tool should have been doing all along.

Generic CAD tools produce plans that are functional. They're not always beautiful.

PCS includes beds, edging, fills, and hatching designed specifically for landscaping work. Draw a bed boundary, apply a fill to show the mulch zone, add a hatching pattern to differentiate plantings. The plan that comes out the other end looks like a presentation, not just a drawing.

That's the difference between a tool that was adapted for landscaping and one that was built for it.
