We are proud to announce the appointment of Justin Courville, PE, PMP as the new Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Engineering.

Justin previously founded Project JRC, which joined forces with Pelican Engineering in 2025 to expand service offerings, increase capacity, and create a more complete solution for clients. Since then, he has worked alongside founder James Palmer and the Pelican team to support the company's operations, customer relationships, and long-term direction.

In his new role, Justin is focused on building upon the strong foundation established by James and the team. His goal is to ensure Pelican continues to be the firm customers turn to for a complete solution under one roof, delivered with excellence, responsiveness, and a clear understanding of the business problems they need solved.

This transition allows James to return his full focus to what he does best: solving hard engineering problems and advancing our capabilities through technical special projects.

For our partners across the energy, medical, and industrial sectors, it is business as usual. All existing projects, timelines, and points of contact remain seamlessly in place. We look forward to this next chapter and continuing to serve as your complete engineering partner.

Our team spent last Friday touring First Solar's New Iberia facility, over 2 million square feet of fabrication, assembly, and packaging under one huge roof. The scale alone was worth seeing in person.

What stuck with us, though, was something Georges Antoun said during the visit. He told our group he'd pushed hard to being solar module manufacturing to Acadiana specifically because of the density of technical talent here, drawn from local schools and the industries that have been built around them.

This is the same type of talent we've built Pelican Engineering around, and watching more technology and hardware companies plant flags in the region for the same reason is encouraging. We think it will result in tremendous growth in our community and beyond.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys owning projects from start to finish, working directly with clients, and tackling complex mechanical challenges across a variety of industries.

You'll have opportunities to work on:
• Structural and mechanical design
• Piping and pressure systems
• Equipment engineering
• Direct client communication and consulting
• Scope and functional project management

Qualifications:
• ABET-accredited 4-year Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred)
• 8+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience preferred

Did you know Pelican Engineering manages and executes projects like the AEOS Telescope Dome Modernization?

Almost 2 miles high on a dormant volcano, 4,000 miles from home base, inside a national park.

That's where Justin Courville, our Director of Mechanical Engineering, served as lead engineer and project manager for this multi-year, multi-million-dollar program for Boeing and the U.S. Space Force. Justin ran it end-to-end and was hands-on for the installation of the full motion control system, including eight 20-foot hydraulic cylinders.

Behind the install was three months of buckling analysis on a non-traditional cylinder mount, using Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain and verified with FEA. The completed system holds 0.0001 inch positional tolerance and under 0.040 inch of skew across a 174-inch stroke.

Huge respect to Controlled Fluids, Aggressive Hydraulics, Delta Motion, and Boeing for their roles in this project. We're proud of the part we played in modernizing the largest optical telescope system in DoD inventory.
