Just an illustration of an elected official with a cheeseburger for a head. Feels appropriate.

Big thanks to and for the opportunity to do some good ol’ grain shading!
Despite Mayor McCheese’s anatomical absurdity, I was very pleased to find a way to render him in an unusual pose without accidentally descending into the grotesque. He seems to be enjoying himself!

Big start to the new year with this tour poster for and a huge thanks to for their direction and trust on this project! APs will be dropping sometime next month so stay tuned for more on that!

For this piece, I was intent on bringing out a certain esoteric quality in the design that could reflect the power of surprise in live music.
A great show can feel like you’ve stumbled into a clearing, where overwhelming joy is harmonized with cycles of growth and decay, resulting in a ritual fertilization of our creative spirit.
Hand up 👋 if u know what I’m talking about.

Anyhow, to me, this was all brought together in my entirely ahistorical illustration of the Horned God/ Cernunnos/ Pan/ whoever it is to you. I find esoterica to be endlessly fascinating, and tracking down the bits and pieces of multicultural artworks to create this whole scene, was a true pleasure.

If you’ve made it this far, I encourage you to check out the slides in this post dedicated to research and process. I spend more time than is advisable, just finding amazing historical references and traditions of image-making that hopefully all combine to create something new and familiar.

Yeah! Can’t believe I got to do some work for an gig put on by Philly’s finest and .
Big shoutout to the Rising Sun team in particular!

The opportunity was extra special since this is a band that my Dad and I love seeing together. Many good memories of late nights soundtracked by Eric, Alan, and Neal despite Mom asking us to turn it down (she’s a fan too, don’t worry). Love you Mom 😘

Anyhow, portraits of an artist are never my go to, but I just felt like this was a scene I already knew in my head. So for once, I didn’t overwork the damn thing, kept it simple, and I’m thrilled with the results!

Today’s post is quite a switch-up from my usual peace and love, but that’s how it goes when every day is an experiment in authoritarian control.

I never cease to be confounded by the barrage of lies this admin will deploy to validate their fascism. In yesterday’s case, it was to excuse the violent murder of an unarmed US citizen on US soil. I know that Renee was not the first person to get shot by these lawless goons with a badge and a gun, but the set, setting, and skin color really hit home.

This can happen in your neighborhood. This isn’t about immigration, justice, or law and order. It’s about the selective deployment of violence as a means of control.

If your inclination is to roll your eyes, I double-dog dare you to interrogate your antipathy towards what’s happening. How much do you need to over-embellish the ‘dangerous-woke-antifa-left’ in order to make this s**t ok? What do you possibly stand to gain from letting these fascists have their way with our nation?
Let’s all work together to stop them. I know we can.

F**k ICE. F**k DHS too.

Boy did we all have ourselves a year. Looking around, it’s clear everyone is fighting their own battles, so I won’t overindulge my story here. Just happy to say that looking back, none of the challenges were as insurmountable as they seemed in the moment. Hopefully I’m not the only one who re-learned lesson that upon reflection.

I know I’m late with this post, but if it call it a tradition, that makes it ok I think.
Anyways, happy to say that despite my lethargic posting cadence, all this year’s work was completed on time (or near enough). And what a crazy wonderful year of work it was! Thank you so much to every client and band and manager who gave me an opportunity to make art for a living. Y’all placed so much trust in me and I’m honored to carry that responsibility 🙏

To everyone who bought a print, reshared my art, or put my name in front of new people, thank you too! You continue to undermine my cynicism by putting the SOCIAL back in social media. Community, even online ones, are easy to take for granted when you live your life in basically the same place. So to have met so many new friends in a year where I’m living in a new city, was really special.

LET’S DO IT AGAIN!

4-color screen printed poster for commemorating their Thanksgiving shows at
Much love to the band, management, and for their print work!

Despite not having been there myself, I fell in love with the building’s facade and wanted to do a design that paid tribute to those beautiful colors and tile shapes. I enjoyed incorporating a few motifs from the band’s latest LP which I had the privilege of getting to design as well.

Hope everyone’s enjoying the holiday weekend! 🦃

Single artwork for and their latest track ‘Self-Aware’. Be warned, this one’s for dancing, so make sure you have plenty of space when you throw it on.

I love getting to tell the music’s story through a series of vignettes and totems. In this piece, instead of a standalone foreground object as the totem, we went with the ornamented newel posts seen all over the 5 boroughs, but especially in Brooklyn. Past the post, a warm interior space calls to the viewer down on the street. Maybe the start of an amazing night. Maybe the familiar comfort of returning home.

Much love to the band as always for the trust and enthusiasm!

Yowzah! It’s been a fantastic fall for live music, and I’m so pleased to create a piece for in celebration of their epic 3 set extravagnaza tonight at . Much love to the band and management for their trust and enthusiasm!
Special thanks to for helping make this happen!

Piecing together architectural details from Chicago’s iconic buildings into an Art Deco cityscape, I wanted to paint a moody scene of gargoyles at night, glowing with an ethereal light. Just like a show with 3 sets, each one holds the potential of something different and unexpected. As the light touches every curve of stone, the creatures get a chance to tell their part of the story and create this harmonious experience we call live music.

Colorado-flavored ad mat design for Nershi Hann Trio’s run of shows up in the Rocky Mountains next year. Stoked to be working with great clients and great musicians!

It’s a fun design endeavor to take the amazing color relationships from the Colorado state flag and find a new way of expressing that spirit in the warm colors of acoustic instruments.

Last up, and kinda my favorite, is this t-shirt design to round out the collection for and their fall tour merch!

After exploring detailed illustrations, minimalist logos, and hectic collage for a lot of the other designs, I wanted to switch it up.
Something about the sleek and polished metal with some worn edges and a fancy script font really articulated an attitude that you hear in the new music.

A big thank you to the band for their trust, patience, and enthusiasm in creating so many unique pieces!
