Nearly a week after the PHP2Shell vulnerabilities were disclosed, the work of identifying and patching affected systems continues.

Security researchers have reported exploitation attempts, and vendors are continuing to publish updates and remediation guidance.

For IT teams, a few important checks remain:
✓ Have all PHP installations been accounted for, including those on legacy systems?
✓ Have the appropriate vendor patches been applied?
✓ Can remediation be verified across monitored systems?

Our team recently published a free, open-source Zabbix template to help with that process.
It discovers installed PHP packages across Linux hosts, flags potentially vulnerable and end-of-life versions, and tracks version changes to help verify remediation.

Two critical PHP vulnerabilities were patched yesterday, and our team has published a free Zabbix template to help IT teams identify potentially affected systems.

The PHP2Shell vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) carry a CVSS score of 9.2 and could allow unauthenticated remote code ex*****on.
The template helps teams:

✓ Discover installed PHP packages and versions across monitored Linux hosts
✓ Flag potentially vulnerable and end-of-life PHP installations
✓ Create Zabbix problems for systems requiring attention
✓ Track version changes to help verify remediation

It uses existing Zabbix agent capabilities, with no additional scripts or software required on monitored servers.
