PCs for People CEO, Susan Parriott, was a featured speaker at Cook County’s digital equity symposium, joined by Loren Williams, our Enterprise Partnership Manager for Illinois, and Trusteen B. Butnariu, our Impact Manager.

Together with fellow leaders and community advocates, our team explored ways to expand access to technology and the opportunities it makes possible.

Cleveland neighbors: Give your unwanted electronics a new purpose.

Just a reminder that PCs for People is still partnering with Christ Presbyterian Church to host a community e-waste drive now through October 29, coordinated by our Senior Enterprise Manager, Dani Valentin, offering church members and local neighbors a convenient, environmentally responsible way to recycle unwanted IT electronics.

This , we’re looking back at a day of community connection and opportunity in Cleveland.

On August 15, PCs for People joined the Ward 5 Back-to-School Resource Fair at the Friendly Inn Settlement in the Central neighborhood. Regional Impact Manager Shanelle Simmons represented our team, connecting with families and sharing resources to support digital access.

Hundreds of community members gathered for backpacks filled with school supplies, food, prizes, community resources, and the chance to win a free laptop from PCs for People.

“Providing free laptops at our Ward 5 Back-to-School Resource Fair was about more than giving away technology, it was about expanding opportunity. For many families, having reliable access to a computer can make the difference in a student’s ability to complete assignments, access educational resources, build digital skills, and stay connected. I’m grateful for the partnership that helped us put these tools directly into the hands of Ward 5 families and invest in our young people’s future.”

• Participation in a qualifying assistance program

Flashback Friday: More Digital Inclusion Week highlights! 😊 🎉

PCs for People is looking back at Re-Use Palooza, on October 4, hosted by The Plant (Chicago, IL) and coordinated by Enterprise Partnerships Manager Loren Williams and attended by Jonathan Qnell, Operations Supervisor for Cook County. Thank you both for supporting community engagement and technology reuse!

Then, on October 6, Regional Impact Manager Shanelle Simmons coordinated a digital access event at Cleveland’s Navidad Pagan International Newcomers Academy, alongside Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Department of Multilingual Multicultural Education and DigitalC.

Families were able to sign up for free home internet through Digital C and purchase low-cost laptops from PCs for People, all at a school serving Cleveland’s growing newcomer community.

For multilingual families who are new to the area, and often new to the country, transportation and trust can present barriers to digital access. Bringing resources into their neighborhood through organizations they already know helps make those connections possible.

These moments reflect what it means to S.E.E. a brighter digital future: meeting communities where they are and working together to expand access to opportunity.
