Schools have been asking, "Should we allow AI?" for a while now. The more pressing question for most K-12 IT teams has become "how do we govern what is already here?"

Jamf is hosting a 30-minute webinar with Shawn Neal, IT Director and EdTech Strategist at Venture Academy, on exactly that. Ethics frameworks for evaluating AI tools, student data privacy, communicating policies across students, teachers and leadership.

We asked 687 IT and security leaders about AI. Then we asked them to describe, in their own words, the AI challenge they had not yet solved.

178 of them wrote back.

Across all those responses, four things kept showing up:

😱 Shadow AI
🏃 Agentic tools running where monitoring was never built to watch
🌀 Vendor sprawl
💸 And cost surprises

One person summed up the tension best: "Everyone wants all the AI right now. We want to slow down and verify, but the pitchforks are coming."

That is the state of AI governance in Apple enterprises right now. We wrote the whole thing up. It is data-heavy, has charts, and will probably validate what your team has already been feeling.

What does it actually look like when a government IT team migrates 1,900+ Apple devices back to Jamf after trying a competitor?

Travis County’s Billy Roberts lived it, and he didn’t hold back on this episode of Jamf After Dark. He walks through what went wrong, what brought him back, and the moment a Jamf config change took seconds while the same change on their old MDM took 8 hours.

If you or someone you know works in IT and manages Apple devices, this is a great listen.

One of the most important education themes from WWDC26 was identity.

From QR code access to guest workflows and PSSO enhancements, Apple continues to remove friction between devices and learning.

For schools, the goal isn’t just faster logins. It's more instructional time, fewer classroom disruptions, and a seamless path from device to learning, and Jamf has been sharing this vision for some time.

Take a look at what all the announcements mean for the education sector including:

✅ Identity as a foundation
✅ DDM is here and now
✅ Support goes beyond the school gates
✅ Trust and Privacy are not interchangeable

Explore how Apple's WWDC26 announcements — from declarative device management to identity and parental controls — are shaping the future of education technology.

Every year, Apple continues to raise the bar for what admins can expect from a modern device platform. WWDC26 announcements were no exception.

This year, Apple made one thing clear: declarative device management is the standard for managing Apple devices. And OS 27 brings a lot more with it:

✔️ Binary-level app control on macOS
✔️ A rebuilt Platform SSO experience with passwordless login flows
✔️ Real-time fleet health monitoring
✔️ And privacy permission management that finally respects everyone's time

We broke down what matters most for Apple admins👇

This year's announcements at WWDC26 carry more operational weight than most. OS 27 offers a structural shift in how Apple devices are configured, secured and managed.

Here's something most K-12 IT teams don't know: if you're running a cross-platform security tool on your Apple fleet, it's probably working around Apple's security frameworks instead of with them.

That means blind spots. That means slower detection. That means help desk tickets that are really security symptoms in disguise.

We broke down exactly what Apple-native security does differently and why it matters for schools. Take a look 👀: https://okt.to/dqMQCa

Cross-platform security tools can't fully protect Apple devices in K-12. Learn why Apple-native security closes detection gaps, reduces device overhead and keeps classrooms running.
