Uber doesn't want to be just a rides app anymore, "Uber is becoming an app for everything." In 48 hours, it unveiled a massive expansion of what Uber is becoming.

Wednesday at GO-GET 2026, Uber introduced:

• Hotel bookings and partnership with Expedia (700K+ properties)
• Travel Mode — an in-app concierge with OpenTable reservations
• Uber Eats "room service" delivered to your hotel door
• Shop for Me — request from any store, listed or not
• AI-powered Voice Bookings + unified search
• Eats for the Way — a snack waiting in your Uber Black
• Uber One international perks- earn perks while traveling

Then Thursday, an even more ground breaking announcement that's sitting a little more under the radar: this autonomous fleet they're building.

Moving from a gig economy to a hybrid model:

•Gig model - current model
•Driver-led fleet model - Hertz/Oro employees driving Herta/Oro vehicles
•Autonomous model - Lucid Gravity autonomous robotaxis

With these new services and models come interesting partnerships:

Lucid — $500M, 20K+ vehicles
Nuro — $200M+, Level 4 autonomy
Nvidia — compute platform
Hertz/Oro — fleet operations
Rivian — $1.25B, up to 50K vehicles by 2031

This is a massive addition and shift to their current ecosystem and forces us to reconsider how this current relationship between customers and Uber will evolve.

Furthermore, it brings a plethora of questions to the table. Will driving for Uber no longer be an additional source of income for roughly a million US workers? Will the streets and highways start to fill up with autonomous vehicles much sooner than anticipated? And what other future partnerships are on the horizon as our world shifts and turns right before our very eyes?

If you need to locate a co-worker's physical location in the office, you'll soon be able to with this new Teams update coming in December...

“It can be a productivity booster, meaning you’ll no longer have to manually look for your counterparts at the office or even give them a call; you can easily pinpoint their location via Teams as long as they are connected to the office’s WiFi network.”

There are many questions that come to mind with this new feature. Of course there are usually pros, but the cons remain a twin flame as well.

One being; will employees still have the opportunity to behave in ethical manners by choice, or will Big Brother business deem choice and privacy in the workplace a luxury of the past?

You have been warned — no more working from home without permission.

Perhaps safety has been dismissed within various industries such as healthcare, not because online safety or patient healthcare data is not a concern, but because it’s a costly one.

“…the new changes won’t come cheap. Reuters reports that Anne Neuberger, the US deputy national security advisor for cyber and emerging technology, told reporters the proposals are projected to cost $9 billion in the first year and $6 billion in the following two years.”

The proposed rules from HHS aim to combat rising ransomware attacks and data breaches in the sector, but changes could cost $9 billion in just the first year.

The robots aren’t just coming, they’re already here. “China disclosed its bold plans to mass-produce "advanced level" humanoid robots by 2025.”

China published a blueprint for its plans to produce the robots, which it says will be as "disruptive" as smartphones.

"Recall uses local AI models built into Windows 11 to screenshot mostly everything you see or do on your computer and then give you the ability to search and retrieve items you’ve seen."

The importance of sharing ideas, findings, and having necessary conversations can be vividly displayed by Microsoft's halt on their upcoming "all knowing" Recall feature.

Because of the tech community and security specialists that look out for the interests of the greater good, there is hope for tomorrow.

Having a program or app installed onto your system is one thing, but having what some refer to as a built-in keylogger into your desktop's operating system (turned on by default) is a conversation that needs to be explored in greater depth.

Kudos to Microsoft for listening to the community and working together to figure out a more analyzed, secured, and transparent solution. It'll be interesting to see what lies on the road ahead.

Microsoft needs more time to test Recall’s security.

"AI data centers alone are expected to add about 323 terawatt hours of electricity demand in the U.S. by 2030, according to Wells Fargo. The forecast power demand from AI alone is seven times greater than New York City’s current annual electricity consumption of 48 terawatt hours."

“According to Mehdi, the introduction of the Copilot key “marks the first significant change to the Windows PC keyboard in nearly three decades.”

Microsoft and PC makers are going to add "Copilot" keys to desktop and laptop keyboards in a bid to get us to use Microsoft's Copilot AI on a frequent basis.

“While the bill’s stated aim is to protect Americans from Chinese spying and influence via the popular social media app, there’s another group that stands to benefit: the U.S. tech companies that have been struggling to compete with TikTok.”

Meta and Google stand ready to reap a TikTok ban’s rewards.
