A few years ago, I was standing inside our family’s Korean restaurant in NYC dealing with staffing shortages, call outs, rising costs, and wondering how small businesses were supposed to survive in a world changing so quickly.
Today I am watching our story featured at Google I/O 2026.
Watch our story from here WorkOnward.com
Honestly, it still feels unreal.
WorkOnward (WOW) Your Job, on the Map 📍 started because I saw how broken local hiring felt for both small businesses and workers. Everywhere I looked, there were “Help Wanted” signs, but people were still struggling to find opportunities close to home. Small business owners were overwhelmed. Workers felt disconnected. The system felt outdated.
So we decided to build something different.
Not from Silicon Valley.
But from real experiences inside a small business.
Seeing Mista Oh NYC and WorkOnward (WOW) Your Job, on the Map 📍 featured during Google I/O meant a lot to me because it reminded me that small businesses deserve to be part of the future of AI too.
AI should not only benefit the largest companies in the world.
It should also help local businesses, immigrant communities, frontline workers, and the people working hard every day just to keep their doors open.
Thank you to everyone who supported us through the uncertainty, setbacks, long nights, pivots, and difficult moments behind the scenes.
Thank you to our team, employers, workers, volunteers, friends, family, and everyone who believed in us before the world noticed.
We still have a long way to go.
But it was a great reminder to keep building. Thank you,
Thank you for supporting small businesses.
