All this as the world loses confidence in the USA and are actively looking for alternatives (Linux). Many have believed, that with our increasingly global economy, economics does as much for peace and stability as statecraft and foreign policies. Microsoft better pivot. Satya Nadella (not a fan) has been totally focused on Azure and cloud services and hasn't cared much about most consumer products, windows and Xbox. If windows fails, the rest of the MS will follow. Windows is losing whole countries and industries. Imagine a medical business is subject to HIPAA requirements and their PC is taking snapshots of their screen and sending it to the cloud for the recall feature. Well, it's happening and the medical industry has a problem.

I'm close to positive that, at minimum, South Korea, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil and India will be getting their governments off of Windows. You can be sure, given the declining global confidence in the US, the world will be looking for alternatives to many other US products and services. Our dominance in the tech industries will be slipping globally and our economy will take a big hit.

If you are running Windows 10, join Microsoft's Extended Security Updates (ESU) program to get another year of updates. It was fast and easy. I was expecting to pay $30 but it ended up being free for me.

How to get Windows 10 ESU
ESU is rolling out to eligible devices running Windows 10, version 22H2 prior to the end of support date on October 14, 2025, with availability expanding gradually as the phased rollout progresses.

To get ESU on your Windows 10 device:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

If your device meets the prerequisites, you’ll see a link to enroll in ESU.

Once you select Enroll now you’ll start the ESU enrollment. If you are signed into Windows with a local account, you will be prompted to sign into your Microsoft account. If you are already backing up your PC Settings, you will see a prompt to enroll your device.

If you aren’t backing up your Windows settings, you can choose if you want to begin backing up your settings, redeem Rewards, or make a one-time purchase to enroll in ESU.

You can use your existing ESU license on up to 10 devices (with the same MS account) once you enroll in ESU. Just go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Enroll now on those additional devices.
