Burnout has become normalized in creative industries. So much so that many designers don’t even recognize it until they hit a breaking point. ❤️‍🩹

Constant deadlines. Endless inspiration loops. Doom scrolling. AI anxiety. Productivity culture. The pressure to always create, improve, and stay relevant adds up.

For Mental Health Awareness Month, we ask our designer friends to take a step back and listen to their bodies and minds, and have honest conversations with themselves about how they're prioritizing creative rest. 😴

This carousel was inspired by insights from Dennis Field’s article, “How I Fight Burnout As A Designer,” which explores the realities of burnout within creative careers and ways to combat it. 🔥 Check out the article here https://www.iamdennisfield.com/post/how-i-fight-burnout-as-a-designer

Designers — what helps you avoid burnout? Let's share some helpful tools and tips for our community to act on.

Think your resume disappears into a black hole after you hit “apply”?

Recruiters in our Beating the ATS session of Next Steps explained what ATS really does and why a human still sees your application.

✅ ATS = an organizational tool, not a robot judging your worth
✅ Your resume does land in recruiters’ inboxes
✅ Smart formatting + clear keywords help you get noticed

You’re not shouting into the void. You just need to understand the system.

Thank you to Jamie-Lynn Simon from and Marlena Battista and Jake Robinson from for taking the time to speak with our community!

The Alina Wheeler Memorial Scholarship provides annual financial support to undergraduate design students. Awards go directly to students and can be used for tuition, housing, or other essential needs.

Hear from our past recipient, Kaci Kwiatek, a Drexel University alumna and currently a Senior Interaction Designer at Google, on how the scholarship helped her focus on class projects without financial stress. We are so proud of Kaci and look forward to continuing to nurture creative talent like hers through the scholarship.

AIGA Philadelphia is dedicated to nurturing creative talent and building a strong future for the design community, and we need your support. Join us in creating a sustainable scholarship fund for aspiring Graphic Design students in our region by donating today on our website.

📢 IT’S TIIIIIMEEEEEEE!!!

Our Alina Wheeler Memorial Scholarship is now accepting applications from local design students seeking financial assistance to pursue their education. The scholarship is awarded based on the merits of the essay and portfolio submission, and demonstration of need. We encourage all potential applicants to visit our website for more information. Applications will close on March 29th, 2026. 🔥✍️

Since 2018, our scholarship has reduced the financial barrier to education and invested in the next generation of emerging creatives. Access to education isn’t always equitable, and our scholarship program aims to continue changing that narrative. We rely on our community to continue supporting us and our efforts, but donating to the scholarship fund and investing in a student’s future.👏✨

Visit our website for more information on how to apply or donate to the scholarship program, link in bio.
