Turns out, Halloween and cyber threats have a lot in common. Suspicious characters, questionable treats, things lurking in the shadows… and the occasional nightmare you really wish you could wake up from.

And just like trick-or-treating, you never quite know whether you're getting a trick or a treat. Especially when cybercriminals are handing them out.

Working in cybersecurity, we deal with some pretty scary things. From sophisticated cyber threats to unexpected IT disasters, we've seen enough to know that the real nightmares don't always happen in horror movies.

But it got us thinking 🤔… what REALLY sends a chill down our spines?

📞 We’d say a call coming from inside the network... from someone claiming to be IT, who definitely ISN'T.

💀 A desperate attempt to restore critical files, only to discover the backups are “nowhere to be found”.

😱 Oh, and… those five terrifying words on a Friday at 4:59 PM: “Let's make one quick change.”

Forget ghosts and goblins. Now THAT'S the stuff of nightmares! 👻

Just like watching a scary movie, these look like bad ideas... BECAUSE THEY ARE.

Every horror movie has that one character who makes all the wrong decisions. Investigating the creepy basement, inviting a masked stranger inside, or ignoring the monster lurking in the closet. We can all see the disaster coming!

Unfortunately, some of the most common cybersecurity mistakes follow the same script. Clicking suspicious links, sharing passwords or MFA codes, and ignoring security alerts can turn an ordinary workday into a real-life IT nightmare.

Don't be THAT character! Keep your cyber hygiene in check and think before you click, protect your credentials, and never ignore the warning signs.

Folks, don't wait for things to go bump in the network! Regular security assessments, proactive monitoring, and strong access controls can help uncover vulnerabilities and keep unwanted visitors out.

The only thing scarier than a haunted house is a network full of surprises. 💀

🧛 Vampires used to go for your neck. These days, they're after your passwords! 😱

🧄 Fortunately, there's a little garlic for that. It's called MFA (multifactor authentication), and it adds an extra layer of security that can help keep cybercriminals out of your accounts, even if they've gotten their hands on your password.

Enable MFA wherever possible, folks! Especially on email, financial, and business accounts. It's one of the simplest ways to send those password vampires packing.🦇

Every good horror movie starts with a bad decision, right? Opening the creepy basement door. Investigating a strange noise. Plugging in a mysterious USB drive found in the office parking lot...

🤔 Maybe there's something interesting on it. Maybe it's free storage. But MAYBE you've become the character everyone is screaming at through the screen… 😱

Unfortunately, this horror story is all too real! Unknown USB drives can contain malware, steal sensitive information, or give attackers access to your systems.
