WAIT, before you click on that email, are you being tricked? Not every phishing email looks the same, but here's 4 tips for handling any weird email.

1. Check the real sender address

The email may be "from your bank", but check the email address from the sender anyway. Is there any typos? Anything that looks a bit weird?

2. Slow down when the email tells you to hurry.

Is there any urgency in the email like...
"Your account will be closed in 24 hours"
"I need this wire sent before noon"
"Confirm your password now"

3. Look, don't click. Ever.

You can hover over a link to see where it will really take you. If a link says Microsoft but is really taking you somewhere else, red flag.

And lastly, this one goes without saying.

4. TELL/SHOW YOUR IT DEPARTMENT!

They can confirm if it is spam or phishing. Also, it helps them adjust their email filters to help prevent emails like these from ever reaching your inbox.

6. Backups that are tested, not just assumed to work

Go ask a few AI tools to pick a number 1 through 10... I'll wait while you do it.
It picked 7 didn't it? There's a good lesson to learn here...

When you ask AI a simple question, many times it's going to find the most average answer it can from the source material it has.

This is great for simple research, well known facts, and routine processes like changing a tire.

It's not so great when you're trying to imagine something completely original.

So when you're using AI, keep in mind that it's always going to lean on the safe answer it thinks you want to hear.

Not necessarily the answer you NEED to hear.

Here's a few good tips when you're prompting AI.

1. Be specific, give it concrete details to help avoid hallucinations.

2. Avoid asking leading questions, this will tip AI to a certain answer over what may be the right answer.

3. Ask AI to provide sources to the answer it is going to give, this helps show proof you're not getting a random answer with no verifications.

Remember, you get what you give. Give AI junk, you'll get junk back.
