Tip #2 for evaluating Salesforce backup vendors: don't just ask if they restore records. Ask if they restore relationships.

Most Salesforce data isn't standalone. Opportunities link to accounts, accounts link to contacts, custom objects often link to several others. That web of connections is what makes your org actually work.

Here's the problem: a backup tool can restore a record and still get this wrong. If the relationships don't come back correctly, you're left with orphaned data — records that technically exist but aren't connected to anything. And that breaks reports, breaks automation, and breaks anything downstream that depends on those links.

So here's the test before you buy: ask the vendor to walk through a parent-child restore scenario, not just a single-record restore. Watch how clearly they can answer. Vagueness here usually means they haven't dealt with this at real scale.
