Both of my kids wanted their own chance to ride the dragon — so we made two commercials. This is Kellan's version, "How to Train Your PowerUp," and she brought a completely different energy to it than her sister did. She also performed a genuine stunt, which she takes appropriate pride in. The PowerUp Dragon Kit is a smartphone-controlled paper craft airplane, gyro-stabilized, app-controlled, 250-foot range. I couldn't let spooky season end without one more big VFX project! As much as I love The X-Files, I also absolutely love Stranger Things and am so excited for Season 5. That opening title sequence is just iconic and I've been obsessed with it since I first laid eyes on it.

Early in my VFX education I decided to see if I could recreate it using no tutorials; just what I'd learned so far. Now I'm sharing it with you. I took the classic theme song and painstakingly brought the Sequim Electronics name to life using those famous moving, close-up letters. I hope even Bob Newby—RadioShack legend and certified "Brain"—would approve of this project! We hope this gets you in the mood for the Upside Down... or at least finding the perfect new electronic solution right here in Sequim!
