Is your "cheap" office printer actually a massive money pit? 🖨️💸

If you only print a few pages a month, you are inkjet printing's worst enemy.

In the newest edition of Digital Decorum, we are exposing the "Razor and Blades" trap of the $50 big-box store printer. That low upfront price tag is hiding a frustrating reality: dried-up cartridges, forced maintenance cycles, and ink that evaporates before it ever hits the paper.

We break down the real Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for small businesses and show you exactly why making the switch to a laser printer is the smartest move for your bottom line.

Stop paying the spoilage tax on liquid ink. Read the full breakdown here.

Stop wasting money on dried-up ink. Discover why that cheap inkjet printer is secretly draining your small business budget and why laser is the smarter choice.

Is your desktop PC gasping for air? 🖥️💨

We wouldn’t let a sports car run for years without an oil change, yet many of us let our high-performance desktops slowly suffocate under a layer of dust.

In this week's edition of Digital Decorum, we are tackling the invisible enemy of computer performance: heat.

We’ve put together a professional guide on how to safely give your machine the spring cleaning it deserves. Inside, you’ll learn:

🔍 The "Vacuum Effect": Why your PC case is actively pulling dust into every crack.

🛑 Fan Safety 101: Why spinning a fan with compressed air can actually destroy your motherboard.

🚫 The Ban List: Common household items you must keep away from your desk.

🔧 Advanced Maintenance: A step-by-step look at replacing thermal paste for cooler temps.

Stop the throttling and extend the life of your hardware. Read the full guide here.

Ever wonder what web browser IT professionals use on their own machines?

Here’s a hint: It’s not Chrome.

The browser wars have shifted in 2026. While Google Chrome is still "popular", it’s no longer the king of speed or privacy. If you want a faster, more secure online experience, you need to know what the experts know.

We’re breaking down exactly why we recommend Firefox and Safari to our clients (and use them ourselves).

As IT professionals, we are often asked, "What browser should I use?" It’s a simple question with a complicated answer. Most people stick with whatever came installed on their device—Chrome, Edge, or Safari—and never look back. But the browser landscape in 2026 is tricky. With concerns ab

A Note to Our TechGents Community

At TechGents, our priority has always been taking care of the people behind the screens.

With flu season hitting particularly hard this year, we’ve made the difficult decision to move our operations to 100% remote work for the remainder of the flu season (hopefully the end of February).

This wasn't an easy call to make—it feels very much like the tough decisions we navigated during the pandemic. However, the safety of our team and our loved ones is non-negotiable. Some of our team members have immuno-compromised family members, and we need to do our part to ensure they stay protected while the seasonal numbers are so high.

The Good News: We are fully equipped to serve you! We can perform 99% of our services totally remotely. Whether it’s troubleshooting, security updates, or general tech support, you can expect the same expert care you’ve always received from us.

What does this mean for you:
• Business as usual: Our response times and quality of service remain unchanged.
• After & Off Hours Work: We will do any on-site work after your normal business hours (we already heavily do this).
• Safety first: We are doing our part to keep the community (and our families) healthy.
We will be masked up for any interactions and appreciate you respecting that decision.
• Stay safe: We hope this season passes quickly and that you and your families stay healthy and resilient.
Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to trust us with your technological needs. Let’s look out for one another!

Stay safe,
The TechGents Team

Wishing you a bug-free, beautifully connected, and wonderfully joyful Christmas and holiday season! May your downloads be swift and your data merry. 😉

See you in the New Year, ready to tackle any tech challenge! We will be working mostly remote through January as the flu season is extremely bad this year.
