Most Power Platform governance problems start with the wrong sequence.

Teams deploy DLP policies and access controls before understanding what is already running.

That breaks business-critical apps and flows.

The correct process has three phases:
Inventory the environment.
Classify business impact.
Then deploy governance policies.

Discovery and governance are separate phases.

Skipping discovery creates a new outage while trying to fix the old one.

Connector policies are the primary governance control in the Power Platform Admin Center.

Deployed against a known inventory, they're targeted. Deployed against an unknown one, they break business-critical flows without warning.

Every policy deployment needs a validation step: confirm that classified flows are still running before the next policy in the queue goes live.

The difference between a controlled rollout and a reactive one is whether broken flows surface through testing or through user complaints.

Hybrid offshore delivery gets greenlit in A&D Microsoft programs because the hourly comparison favors it.

What the comparison includes and what the model requires are not the same list.
The infrastructure required to keep the model defensible under CMMC and DFARS audits has its own cost structure.

So does the operational friction that builds across a distributed team working against program timelines where audit readiness can't slip.

When the review comes, the rate card won't be the document under scrutiny.

Two approaches to SharePoint provisioning.
Lock it down and users route around IT entirely. Open it up and the environment is ungoverned within months.
The common middle ground is streamlined approvals. That is still the same model with a faster gatekeeper.
When the delay hits a time-sensitive project, users route around it the same way they always have.
The organizations that break this cycle stop treating speed and control as competing priorities.

06/16/2026

Lower rates get approved. Then the model has to be made compliant.
Making the model compliant in a CMMC and DFARS environment requires infrastructure that isn't on the rate card.
The cost didn't go away. It moved to a place where overruns don't surface until a review finds them.
By the time the audit identifies where the savings actually went, the program is already in remediation.

A workflow tool can work exactly as configured and still make the business process worse.

That happens when the organization buys coordination before it has agreed on the process logic.

Approvals are slow. Notifications get missed. Documents move through email. People keep asking for status updates.

That sounds like workflow automation. But the real question is whether the process underneath is already stable.

If departments disagree on the steps, if exception handling dominates the work, if ownership is unclear, or if enterprise dependencies are not mapped, then routing the work faster does not fix the problem. It embeds the problem.

Workflow automation coordinates an agreed process. Business process automation redesigns the process before the coordination layer is built.

Choose the wrong scope and automation becomes rework.

Automation does not fix disagreement. It makes disagreement move faster.

That is what happens when a workflow tool is selected before the underlying process is agreed on.

The approvals route. The reminders are sent. The dashboard updates.

But departments still disagree about steps, rules, owners, exceptions, and evidence.

That is not a workflow coordination problem. That is a process design problem.

Read the full article before selecting an automation tool. It explains how to tell whether you are coordinating an agreed workflow, redesigning the process, or doing both.

Choose the wrong starting point and automation becomes rework.

SharePoint migration doesn't fix access control problems. It surfaces them.

Most teams plan to address permissions, sharing, and audit continuity after go-live. By then, the decisions that needed to be made before migration are already locked in.

The difference between a clean migration and months of remediation is whether the architect resolves these three categories or the compliance team inherits them.

06/10/2026

The most common gap: policies defined at the tenant level but never applied to the default environment.

That is where unmanaged automation accumulates.

Minimum configuration requires three connector categories applied to every environment, including the default.

Then test it.

Attempt to combine connectors and confirm the policy blocks the combination.

An untested policy is an assumed control, not a verified one.
